Pretty simple.

Most items now have a negative beauty modifier.

This includes stuff like leather cowboy hats, which default to -6.

But a masterwork cowboy hat will have a +500% beauty modifier, which bumps the beauty penalty to -30.

Which makes sense from a strictly mechanical sense, because 5 * (-6) = -30, but it feels off. Especially since an awful cowboy hat has a +1 beauty rating.

The issue is simple:

When one pawn is doing the 'View Art' joy task and examining the art on a bed and the pawns assigned to that bed happen to get flagged to rest during the same period, the bed will be considered "in use" and the pawns trying to rest will simply fall asleep on the floor.

It makes complete sense why this happens code wise, however, and it's an issue that rarely occurs and so hasn't been spotted before now.

My game's lightly modded, but they're all QoL mods and I don't see how they could influence this behavior.

It should be trivially easy for someone else to confirm, too. Just dev mode one pawn to 0% joy and another to <25% rest and build a double or royal bed of excellent+ quality that's assigned to the tired pawn. Then, draft the tired pawn to prevent him from resting and draft and undraft the joyless pawn until you get the "View art" task. Once the joyless pawn is actively viewing the art, undraft the tired one and watch where he goes to sleep.

So I decided to play around with a test game to see how the new drugs worked out before diving headlong into a new A15 game and I noticed the bug.



And this is what the guts of the bug look like.

Notice that the alcohol addiction and stoned statuses both have a negative severity change per day (And smokeleaf tolerance would as well if it were visible), but the malari-block severity change is positive and there's no associated stat for Lucy at all. It's been nearly nine days since I took the only doses of the two bugged drugs, so things definitely aren't behaving as intended. The malari-block bug can likely be fixed by adding in the missing negative sign, but I'm not quite sure how Lucy is supposed to behave. For now, I'll just keep the game running to see what happens. Maybe the addiction flag didn't trigger for it?

The gist is exactly what the title says:

Turn on dev mode, enable god mode, then disable dev mode without disabling god mode. God mode will remain active.

I first noticed this behavior a couple days back when I mistakenly left dev along with god mode enabled when switching from my test game to my proper game. I deactivated dev mode as usual, but when I flagged some wall for deconstruction I noticed it disappeared immediately. At the time, I thought it was some weird fluke.

Fast forward to today, and while messing around with my test game I noticed the same behavior again when I went to deconstruct a machine table to double check the price of a component: Instant deconstruction despite dev mode being disabled. Loaded up another game just to fully confirm my suspicions, and I could both place and destroy buildings at will after going through the steps I outlined above.

Didn't see this bug reported yet, but I might've missed it while skimming the boards.
