That's okay, it's more important for you to pass your exams than to come here anyway :)

Are you sure you used the same email address on Kickstarter/RimWorld website and on the creative reward system?

Quote from: brianon on December 12, 2013, 04:31:42 PM"O'Neill" Is a pretty common surname right ? It certainly is in Ireland so why can't I use it for my "Last name" on Rimworld creative page :)

I was a s/w dev for 11 years but a pretty crappy one and even I figured out how to allow the ' special character ;)

Any chance it'll allow my proper "O'Neill" instead of me butchering it to "ONeill" ? :D
Now it does, thanks for your report!

Poland added to the poll :)

It's interesting to see that while the game is made in North America, there's more people from Europe that answered this poll than from North America :)

PLC can be quite useful indeed, but can raise security question if you have an older electric installation, as someone from the same building could plug in your home network. However, this is not the case with newer electrical installation where digital circuit breakers make sure that no data is flowing out of your home. :)

It still lacks some explanation texts but that doesn't affect stored data.

Ideas / Re: Gun Damage

This is the usual realism debate about weapons in video games. The thing is, realistic gunfights are not fun. Like you say, it's mostly hiding to avoid being killed. It translates badly to video games because they are supposed to be fun.

Adding realism to weapons in RimWorld would certainly add some realism to the produced stories, but would they be funnier or more interesting to read? I'm not so sure about that.

My take is that RimWorld should leave gunfights realism to the games that are built around it, like the Tom Clancy's game series, and stick to a not-so-realistic-but-so-much-more-fun weapon system.

General Discussion / Re: Explosive Fire Extinguishers
November 30, 2013, 12:11:22 AM
I never had that kind of trouble with fire I had to blow it away every single time. How big is your colony? At some point (arounds 30 colonists) I had to assign some colonists to do nothing but put out fires, and it worked well. I also took preventive measures like cutting vegetation around the base.

That is, if your problem is large fires caused by raiders attacks, it's normal for your colonists to struggle to extinguish them and for you to find creative ways to deal with the situation while there's no real fire extinguisher implemented nor fire extinguishing ability upgrade research. Remember the game is lacking a lot of content, so it's rather normal for players to resort to workarounds like you do.

And I must say it seems to be pretty effective if not a bit extreme!

General Discussion / Re: Trello
November 30, 2013, 12:05:40 AM
Hi SilverRoses, I agree Trello is a wonderful tool, I use it myself regularly, but currently there's no "guys", Tynan is the only one working on the game. And he told me that while releasing part of his to-do list from time to time was fine for him, he wasn't keen on publishing it for everyone to see it anytime. Right now he just fears that there would be more comments on the todo list than he could handle.

So it's definitely a choice not to make the to-do list public in a permanent way, but maybe when the company grows, the could be some openings in that field. Thanks for the suggestion, though :)

Well, I have a colleague who named his daughter Star, so I guess it's ok, but Tynan has the last word on this matter.
