When I saw the title I thought "meh I don't want ghilli suits etc.", but giving bonuses depending on color (material) to vanilla clothes is a good idea.
Plus, ghilli suits could also be implemented as military wear.

I think Tynan's implementing a visitor spot in the next update.

Not a bad idea.

Maybe they should just change the indication on the icons for drafted colonists. Right now, it's just underlining. Maybe it should be underlined and emboldened? Or maybe color their icons red or yellow?

You're all forgetting something:

DIFFERENT MATERIALS ALSO AFFECT THE WEALTH AND IMPRESSIVENESS OF A ROOM!

Ideas / Re: Shooting Ranges and Sparring Rooms

This could be helpful for when you have a colonist that's really good at shooting but is too injured or disabled to hunt. Plus, a sparring room finally gives a way to increase melee. Also, I'm pretty sure people also used dummies for melee combat as well.

Tynan's adding caves in Alpha 18.

But then there would simply be less incentive to settle on a tile with water. There should be an advantage before a disadvantage to living near water.

Ideas / Re: Decompression sickness on deep miner.

I feel like it would get pretty complicated to create a system that evaluates the "pressure" in a mountain tunnel. It's a nice little idea, but it would probably make late-game more difficult since deep exploratory mining in mandatory once you run out of exposed steel and/or component.

Ideas / Re: Let colonists carry small animals in caravans

Not a bad idea. Using very small animals as carried objects instead of hauler/follower animals.

You guys DO know that the reason why we have situations like "Wanderer Joins" is because not EVERY colonist is supposed to be useful, right? Tynan said that himself, so it acts kinda like an unfortunate event when you get a poor character.

A debuff for just including a long-lasting food item?

So if a player found the most defencable map in all of rimworld he can share to the rest of us
But aren't in-game maps randomly generated?

Ideas / Re: Hexagonal tiles map?

The world view uses hexagonal tiles because that way you can mathematically cover a sphere with equally sized and spaced/connected tiles, you can't do that with squares.
Well, technically, a hexagonal tessellation would always be flat. You need pentagons at specific points to allow the shape to form into a sphere. Ever seen a soccer ball (USA) / football (Everywhere else)? It has pentagons all over it.

You belong on horror movie productions. The terrifying thing is that so many animals (and fungi) in the real world already do similar things.

But while this idea does seem interesting and horrifying, it feels way too easy to overcome. Got egged? Well, just get a little surgery and you're fine!

I agree that if it operated similar to alphabeavers, but it would kill animals instead of trees, it would be better, although alphabeavers are more like free food than an actual threat. The difference here is that insect meat is disgusting for pawns and it instead threatens your food supply.
