It is a confirmed feature, lopk at lets plays and you'll see that they have an effect.

Well the zombies were just an idea. You would have to worry about people being around them and turning into zombies but I wasn't thinking of them as been a main focus but mutants work just as well. If you really think about it mutants and zombies are pretty close to being the same thing except being to add more creativity and uniqueness to the mutants.

Well the game/pre-alpha isn't ready for us to download.
Like the text files says
"This is a temporary file that signifies that you've pre-ordered and paid for a RimWorld reward tier.

When the game is ready, you'll get an email with a download link. You'll henceforth get emails and links with each new public version."

People that backed the game or bought on the Ludeon site at the Influencer tier ($30) get the pre-alpha after the Kickerstater has ended.
The people you see with the game now are testers and Youtube people.

unfortunately we have to wait a little longer :P

Anyways if you paid with PayPal I'm guessing you got it from the site like me.
When I bought it from the site I got 3 emails. 1 from Paypal saying I bought it the other 2 from SendOwl with a order# and my license key.
If you didn't get something from Paypal make sure that your order went through. Be a good idea to even check your Paypal account.
If Paypal shows it went through and all the info is right I'd send Ludeon an Email. I'm not sure if they have support yet but if not maybe just message Tynan on the forums.

I think a drug system would be great and could add a lot in gameplay. Not just bad drugs but good as well like medicine. Research and Development (R&D). You are on a harsh planet you need good drugs to survive. So you need to research them and development them and maybe even test. Some work great some don't *death* and some turn into your bad happy drugs and with being on a harsh planet maybe some people try to make the bad drugs to escape the world. Drugs can be made out of all kinds or crazy stuff. Found on priates or the planet, etc.
Adding drugs could add a whole new element to the game and whole new thing the AI storyteller can use in game with diseases and much more.

A small example of a small story/situation.
Some kind of deisease breaks out or a small deady cold or even some kind of cancer comes along and you have to cure it with drugs. So you start researching and developing. Test can be administerered on people, animals, plants, etc. All kinds of things can happen from the drug i.e. working properly from killing or becoming a addictive substance or mutate the host. Now a working drug works.. not much to be said about that same with a drug that kills but its when a drug becomes a addictive substance or a bad happy drug then all kinds of other things can happen like addiction or maybe they become a mutant or zombie (cause games need zombies)

So I was thinking since Rimworld doesn't really have its own Art design or Artist yet. I was thinking we as a community can give ideas and/or what we like and don't like :)

Me personal likes the whole Prison Architect art and design and I'm sure a few will agree and dis-agree. Its a big reason I was drawn to the game. I kinda hope the PA look sticks and with that said it doesn't mean a better style for the game wont show up. I just love the PA look. Its a nice simple and clean look that isn't crazy fancy that looks good and doesn't look dated. I can go on and on about why I love PA art style but I wont. Other people that like it chime in.

What I hope doesn't happen is a pixel art style. I'm not a big fan of pixel/pixelated art styles in games but there are a few games that are okay with one. *cough* FTL but I'm getting wore out on it because its used so often.


What do other people think and any idea they might have :)

Well you already nailed the KS goal so thats not a problem but Thank you for setting up a PayPal. I'm not a big fan of sites I have to put my card info into.

Making the game into a competitive RTS would really break a lot of the core concepts driving the design. Namely: it's not about winning, it's about the story.

A competitive context would break because the game isn't close to being balanced (what with all the random events and degenerate strategies). In this context competition becomes meaningless.

If we had several players working together, however (say, on the same colony, or in allied colonies close together), they could experience the AI Storyteller's stories together, maybe help each other in times of need, stuff like that. And we wouldn't have to balance the game for PvP.

I wouldn't care to see pvp or anything like that but not against it. I love co-op stuff who doesn't like playing with a friend or 2 :P

If you ask me MP adds a lot more life and longevity to a game. Example I love Prison Architect but only played 10-15ish hours while my coop games I play for ages. That said PA isn't a game where MP or even co-op would work well. One reason I backed (bought on Ludeon site) was my love for PA... That and it sounds awesome!!
I wouldn't mind seeing MP show up after release or even a paid DLC for 5-10 bucks. It could even go up on Steam Early Access so you could still bring in money if you wanted to add MP before release.
BUT! I'm not the game Dev. Its all up to you. I just wanted to voice that I would absolutely love to see MP/CO-OP.
