The soap opera continues. This guy I was mentioning (Fausto) finally found himself a lover. Finally, the miner woman was at peace. Happy ending, right?

Of course not. Some guy decided to seduce Fausto's lover. Of course he started harrassing the miner again. So he gets negative thoughts not only for being cheated, but also for being rebuffed. This, with some added minor pain from an old injury, pushes him over the edge every few days. Arrrgh!

Stories / Unfortunate incidents

I don't know if it's pure chance or Cassandra is deliberately messing with me, but raids sometimes come at the worst times. This is how one of my colonists died. He was out in field work, when a cougar started hunting him. He went down, needed to be rescued. Just when I sent someone to carry him home, a group of raiders appeared at the same part of the map, so I had to drop my injured colonist to fight back. He died of blood loss.

Some time later, something similar happened. I was hunting a group of muffalos, when they went on revenge. The hunter could run back to the colony in time and the militia fought back the muffalos, but not without injuries. Then a raid happened. I fended them off, but I got even more injuries in the process. Before everyone could heal up, BAM, another raid. Fortunately, nobody died, but I was almost out of medicine by the end (I had more than 30 before this series started). I had to cut all harvestable healroot on the map. Then I learned my lesson: the next year I started growing healroot myself.

Stories / Re: How did your colony die?

The death of my first colony: I sent 2 out of 3 colonists on a trading tour to a nearby village. The colony got raided by a single enemy. The enemy was carrying a knife. My colonist had a rifle. He missed the enemy. The enemy got close, stabbed my colonist, then burned everything to the ground. At this point, I could have started everything from stretch with my remaining people, but I was, like, 2 hours into the game, so I decided to start over.

Oh yeah, those romance stories. There is an important lesson for all of you: don't assign a man and a woman to mining duty if one is single and the other happily married. Now one of my miners goes home sad each day because he gets rebuffed each time by her. Not that it stops him from trying, he is a stubborn fellow. I had to reassign her to cooking (that's what her husband does BTW) to stop this madness.
