General Discussion / Re: Introduce yourself!
August 28, 2023, 07:31:35 AM
-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
Utube Let's plays. You can harvest organs and butcher human corpses in this game, so I had to try it out.

-What's your favorite other game?
Can't say as most games are different and not comparable.
Best childhood games: pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky; mario and luigi partners in time
CURRENT favourite game (subject to change): Fallout New Vegas

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
When I was a dumb child, I cheated alot to give myself infinite money and invincibility because it made me feel "cool".
Never again!!!

I just save-scum. Not even ashamed. Losing 20 hours of progress because I made a dumb mistake or RNG just hates me isn't fun.

Why did you use wood for walls and floors?
How do you avoid your colony burning down incase of a dry thunderstorm or raid?

But it looks cool. You actually built a real town instead of some ugly megastructure  with an unrealistic killbox. I deeply respect that and defending it probably takes a lot of skill.
The graveyard is my favourite part.

General Discussion / Boar Guild Ideology
August 28, 2023, 07:11:04 AM

Boar guild wisdoms: (skip this part if you want to learn them yourself)
Chop 3 Teak Trees for 180 wood each quartal for a -2 mood debuff. Never chop any more trees. Dig out trees to make space for buildings and fields and replant them near your base for a mood buff up to +5. Gauralen, Pollux and Anime trees give +8 for just being around them. Plant Bonsais inside to avoid the -1 mood debuff. Only use wood as fuel for smithies and cooking and rituals. Use marble for your buildings and furniture. Use steel for doors and beds, as marble is unsuitable for doors and beds. Always buy wood.

Cheese:
You can dig out trees and wait for them to rot to obtain a small amount of wood. This behaviour is seen as cheap, lazy and despicable by the boar guild though.

The raider meme will generate work sites that you can raid. It's important to always bring a doctor and sufficient medicine on raids, as deseases and especially wound infections is are an ever prevalent threat. Be sure to bring a strong raid force with good weapons and armor, as even if the enemies are weak, bad luck can screw your raid force up. Before starting the raid be sure to scout out all the enemies. Ideally take ranged enemies by surprise first. Be aware of the enemies skill levels and weapons and plan your raid accordingly.
After taking over the work site, be sure to not waste any rescources. Always disassemble turrents, batteries and solar pannels for valuable components. Make sure to disassemble Gibbet Cages and lamps too as they grant big amounts of highly useful steel. Furniture can be disassembled for rescources or recycled for your base. Sandbags can be deconstructed for small amounts of steel, though that usually isn't worth it.

Don't neglect keeping attack animals. The Animal Personhood meme and animal specialist help building up a large attack force of powerful animal warriors like rhinos, elephants and wargs.

Relics:
The legendary broken sledgehammer, sledgehammer and sledgy are important artifacts for all followers of the boar guild and shall always be kept out of harms way in a reliquary. Do not use them in combat, as they may be damaged or outright lost forever.

Apparel:
A veil is worn in civil times, but replaced with a helmet in combat.
The boar guild preferes Capes for their great protection from outside elements and elegant looks compared to dusters. (Robes are only listed because capes weren't an option.)
The boar guild also preferes togas (tribalwear) over the conventional button down shirt because of their wearing comfort and better insulation.
The shadecone is an alternative to the veil for Yttakins who don't enjoy wearing veils (veils count as clothing and give them a speed penalty).
The boar guild preferes full body armor (Platemail and Power armors) over vests for combat.

Military:
-Knights
Knights are the most feared warriors of the boar guild, clad in heavy full body armor, they are armed with massive uranium warhammers that are known to pulverize an enemies skull in one hit
-Swashbucklers
Swashbucklers are the lighter units of the boar guild, usually armed with spears (Steel or Plasteel) and clad in thick layers of protective devilstrand clothing.
-Animal Warriors
The boar kingdom often fields powerful attack animals like elephants and rhinos additional to their warriors.
-Boar Penitents
Slaves who convinced the boar guild to not have their organs harvested are often fielded as disposable cannon fodder by the boar guild. Usually completely unarmored and armed with mere logs.
