Ideas / Re: Your Cheapest Ideas

Tynan,

I got another idea. I think it would be fairly cheap. Could you implement a "stay in home-zone" command? Sort of like the command used to recruit units but instead it keeps them from leaving your base. Funny story about this:

Twice in my last game I wasn't paying attention and one of my colonists wandered into the camp of a besieging group of pirates. Both times I rescued the colonists only after they had been badly wounded by the pirates. Both of them have broken spines. So I have two totally immobilized colonists that are living in my hospital because I don't have the heart to euthanize them!

A "stay in home-zone" command will allow me to ensure that my colonists stay near the base while there are hostiles on the map.

Thanks! :)

Ideas / Re: RIVER on map creation

These are some cool ideas! I would like some rivers on the map as well! :)

That seems like a pretty cool idea! I like this a lot better than having separate crafting skills.

Or any kind of vehicle, especially those that can haul goods!
That would be awesome!

Ideas / Re: Upgrading the prison

I like these ideas. But I would like it more if prisoners would convert a little more easily. "After all, we could have killed you, but we chose instead to have mercy. The least you could do is join us!" Either that, or have slave traders appear more often so I can sell the ungrateful prisoners and buy some more colonists! My colonies are always so small!

Ideas / Re: Manually opened doors

I like this idea! I got a boom rat stuck in my battery house once. I won't give the details, but it would have been nice to just open the doors and let the little fellow out!

Hey Tynan,

Thanks for an awesome game! Here's my cheap idea:
Could you create an early game flooring that doesn't require steel, wood or a tech (such as Stonecutting) so I can quickly and cheaply put floors in my first buildings, create simple walkways, etc. Maybe a cobblestone using rock chunks?

Here are some other thoughts:
1. Double-wide doors (because I like my underground corridors two-wide)
2. This has probably been mentioned but I don't think I saw it on your changelogs, but could you create vents or someway we can keep bedrooms cool without installing power-hungry cooling units in all of them?
3. This may not be cheap but could you tell miners and growers to haul a load of goods back with them when they go back to base to eat/rest? Especially miners, as I find myself sending them further and further away to get iron but they leave massive amounts behind because they go from mining to resting.

Thanks for your consideration!

Hey everyone,

I thought I'd post a question to see if anyone else is having this problem. I tried the game first on Chill-Callie and it destroyed me quickly. So I played a game or two at Phoebe Friendly and got used to that level of play but the last game of it got kind of boring for me. So I decided to go back to Chill Callie. Well I just played for a couple hours (two different games) and she OBLITERATED me. The first time she sent a pack of five raiders before the first week was up. I hadn't installed turrets yet and was just trying to keep my group fed. The colonists were swiftly annihilated. The second time my generator blew up within the first couple days, trashing the center of my camp. Then, after my crops got cursed my people began to starve and rebel. Between rebellions and bands of brigands with combat scores upwards of SEVENTEEN!!! I just got frustrated and quit. I would understand if this happened after a month on Chill Callie or right away on Kassandra or Randy, but within the first week or two on "Chill" Callie?

I know this is coming off as real whiny and towards a game that is not only in its pre-alpha stage but also beloved by us all, but is there any sign from Ty that Callie may be broken and if so when she might be fixed?

Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself!

My name is Dwayne. I am a YouTuber and an amateur game developer using Unity 3d. I freaking love RimWorld. I can't wait for more stuff to come out for it (features, etc.). I first heard about it when Quill18 did a "Let's Try" series of it. I'm also a fan of Minecraft, Halo and strategy games. Speaking of breakfast, I am old enough to remember Nintendo brand breakfast cereal.

Thanks!
