I do a good mix of building inside and out. I tend to gravitate towards areas with only a few openings, this colony for example has two choke point entrances so I tend to build security at those entrances. I am working on doing that now so I do not have a good picture. Unfortunately for me, my laptop is not capable of running the game when colonies are huge and killboxes are necessary for handling the larger raids.

Typical defense setup will be a few openings that are sandbagged for colonists with turrets on the other side of a slate or granite wall with barriers between to lessen the likely hood of chained explosions. Then i will have a secondary wall with doors protecting as a fall back with a couple backup turrets and some cover for colonists.

Here is a picture of my still early colony main building. It contains most of the necessities, huge freezer, kitchen, bar, couple rooms, and of course, a brewery!!

Here is a shot of my medical building, with a small prisoners quarters as well.

I got a cook stove in my world. I do not think I went to 10f yet though, so I can not say for sure. It should be there in the production tab.

Crazy old Napo. Emphasis on the Nap apparently.

Your bed closets make my colonist sad for Needles and Porthos.

Some of the quirks provide very entertaining experiences. Who doesn't want to see the 50 year old bar fly dance around the pool table while everyone else is sitting at the bar drinking beers and eating chocolate.

This game is awesome!

I too got the old decrepit dude as my first colonist. However,  old Sam is a fast walking, abrasive, frail with cataracts in both eyes and green thumbs. He is level one passionate in everything except for mining and construction. Though he has 15 in research and 10 in medicine. He shall do research and clean/butcher animals Until I get him some sweet robot eyes. Then he will be the go to Doc.

My hunters start with the pila, or pistol, then a shotgun.... Who uses a sniper rifle to hunt a deer? or a squirrel? Time for battle, they switch to the sniper rifle, since their skill is usually the best in the colony.

Shorter range weapons are better for hunting. less stray bullets flying around hitting your other colonists.

My sentiments exactly. Shotguns. They are f#(&!ng great.

Am I the only one hunting with a shotgun?

You could always activate dev mode. Place stone there (pick - place direct thing -> marble/slate/limestone etc.) then you can go and select destroy and click on each individual spot you placed the stone. It should, if I remember correctly, place a flooring of the same time of stone where the water was.

Handy little trick I figured out on my own.

I personally just really like having a bar with a brewery behind it. Adds a lot more to the visuals of the typical cafeteria setup. I will post a picture when I get my newest setup running. I usually put in nutrient dispenser for looks like an actual brewery with hoppers that do not allow food and then I use equipment racks that do not allow weapons for the actual bar then I stock the beer behind it. Someone make me a full service bar mod. All the drunkards climb over the bar to get more beer. Also, a bar droid.

I like booze. If I were stranded on a rimworld dealing with tribal raids, pirate sieges and the occasional alien ship crashing down. I would sure hope I had a bar with a brewery in back to stop by before I went to cry myself to sleep at night. :o
