So I know the cooler has a cold and a hot side.  I've set up a cooler pointing into my food freezer.  I've then build a wall 1x1 around the output (heat) side that goes directly into a vent (that is open) and vents into a workshop room.  However, I am getting no heat at all from the output side so the room is not heating up at all.

Any suggestions how to get this to work?

General Discussion / World Set Up: Disable Infestations
January 01, 2018, 10:45:17 PM
So I've set up three worlds with the disable infestations turned on and then gone to a mountain zone with caves.  Each one still has bugs in the caves.  Any idea why this isn't working?

Mod bugs / 18.722 Social Fight...Black screen freeze
January 01, 2018, 05:24:31 PM
New game started today, mods enabled (I've used the same mod set with no problems since B18 release).

Social fight started, the game screen went black and froze.  I can still see colonists names and all the toolbars (see attached screenshot).

Also, since B18, I am seeing all my trade guests going insane.  Literally.  Mental breaks and attacking each other, or my colonists.  This new game, first group died on site just wandering.

General Discussion / Re: Stock Room causing Insanity?

Last time this sort of thing happened to me it was 'cause the caravan members were starving, causing them to break. Check their gear/health & sell them some food if necessary
Cool, will look at that.  Just weird that it happened four times in a row.  I was freaking out by then.  I think I do have shopping turned off but they don't go to sleep either and I have an accessible guest quarters.

General Discussion / Stock Room causing Insanity?
December 25, 2017, 12:35:51 PM
I haven't seen this before so not sure what's causing it...
But I have a stockpile room with steel, wood, art, etc in it.  Lately (like 4 caravans in a row) have come in and not gone to the bedrooms but rather go hang out in the mountain cave stockroom area.  Then they go insane.  Literally.

With multiple guests they attack each other.  In one, they took turns attacking the caravan leader (the one you can trade with) and then the rest attacked in response killing the attacker.  The last one was a lone person and went berzerk in the stock room and we had to attack/kill her to stop her from attack us and our animals.

Any idea what gives?

General Discussion / B18 Heatwaves

Are these just OP in 18?

I've seen some really brutal ones, 146 F.  But even the one now jumped to just 86F and my coolers set to 0F are only cooling to 46-50F.  That doesn't seem right.

General Discussion / Angled wall structure

Does an angled wall structure count as an enclosed room?  Example..like following a road or a rock face so there are no "L shaped" walls...

General Discussion / Two biome questions
November 24, 2017, 04:07:35 PM
For flat areas, are there loose stone laying around in enough quantity for stone production?

For mountain areas, are there steel and components further inside the rock that can't be seen from the outside edges?  (Not that it goes further in from the edge, but that you'd have to dig just to find it?)

General Discussion / Any way to clear overhead mountain?

I've strip mined an entire section of rock yet the overhead mountain tag remains.  Is there a way to remove this designation for "bugs"?

Rotting mush is from the 'Fertile Fields' mod; wiki's only for vanilla.
Thanks.  I lose track of what's what.  I'll check the mod.

General Discussion / B18: Rotting Mush
November 23, 2017, 03:41:12 PM
This isn't showing up in the wiki yet.  It seems to appear at random and I can't figure out where to put it.  They store it in the general stockpile.  Also in the food cooler area.  Do not move it to a dump pile allowing rotten.  The only indicator on it is that it can be used to make compost (which may be a research I haven't reached yet).

General Discussion / Heat from a cooler
November 22, 2017, 11:28:21 AM
Does this effect still work?  The cold air cools off the cooler/freezer side but what about the heat discharge side?  I seem to recall in A16 (or thereabouts) that the heat side was pretty significant and you could utilize that to heat the living quarters in a cold biome or cold snap.  It doesn't seem the heat output is that significant any longer.

General Discussion / Power Usage
November 16, 2017, 02:35:58 PM
I'm really having fits with power usage.  I'm not going overboard (I don't think) but just can't keep up with power production.  Typically two windmills and 4-8 solar panels.  I am researching geothermal.  But I'm in a cold environment and when I start adding heaters to keep people alive it just goes to hell.  Batteries drain, can't recharge.  Obviously pulling too much juice.  Can't seem to find anything on YouTube or reddit specifically on power management or power layouts.

There was one post that mentioned switches for batteries but didn't go into any detail so no clue about that.  Anyone have any good tips or suggestions?

Out of juice...on the tundra.

General Discussion / New Stuff: Moving locations/sites
October 18, 2017, 09:13:15 PM
So I haven't played in a few months.  Got updates and checking out the new stuff.  A few questions...

1. It appears instead of building your own ship, you now "move" to a ship location.  Does this entail now building smaller, less permanant settlements and then slowly moving towards the ship?

2. When you get asked to destroy a stronghold, is this similar to when you get attacked?  Should you have advanced weaponry, grenades to blow walls, etc just like the attackers on your settlement have?
