If you want even colder, try my scenario.  It can drop down to -220F/-140C in winter.   Lol.  Best of luck to anyone who gives it a try.

Try my scenario then.  Comes with suggested seeds and everything.  This is what I call extreme survival.  In winter it gets down to -220F/-140C.  Enjoy!

I have not tried this before.
Same seed + same coordinates -> same map. That is the purpose of the seed.

Though as mentioned before, it is most likely that there are more entrances to the map, you are just blocked off from them. Had it a couple of times on mountaineous maps that I only later discovered that large parts were actually open areas and not mountains.

Game map size affects the generated planet.   WORLD map size doesn't  (where you pick your coordinates)  So you can choose the same coordinates on the same world, but change the planet size and get a different map completely each time.  :)   Hope this makes sense

General Discussion / Re: Power Switch setup

Soooo  what i do is....I go inside a room or whatever is close to the "edge" of my base I run power lines to the corner, but I do not run one on the actual corner, then i do a power switch in that area and continue the line on the other wall  Hope this picture makes sense

s = switch
w = power line inside a wall
x = wall
- = power line no wall
t = turrets
              x
              x                t
              x

General Discussion / Re: Again with the "night owl"

You can set them under restrict tab to sleep from 10AM-5PM then set anything for the rest of the day.   Set your night owl people to this schedule and they will stay up all night and sleep during the day perfectly fine.

I added both weather effects to some starting scenarios for anyone who wants them.  You can find them here.

Someone earlier asked how to get permanent heatwave or coldsnap in their scenario.  I've added 2 files with the permanent conditions already added.  Feel free to customize your scenario to your hearts content.

NOTE:  DO NOT REMOVE THIS CONDITION (or you won't be able to get it back, unless you actually go and edit the file again)

So since the section for scenarios for DRM folks hasn't been added yet I decided to add my custom scenario here.   Please feel free to criticize it.   Let me know what needs to be improved or added or removed or whatever  ;D :D ;D :D

You can't grow trees on ice sheet. There's no soil. The best ice sheet has is gravel, and you can't plant trees on gravel. (Unless that was changed for A14.)

So traders are your only source, like b0rsuk said.

You have always been able to plant trees in gravel.  Lol I've been playing since alpha 8....and when icesheet came out in....9 or 10 you could do trees in gravel.

Doubtful, because of that fact that you need wood.   And you can't grow trees fast enough without sun lamps.

I have successfully made a tribal colony on an icesheet!  YAY.  I'm on Randy Random Extreme, and by god I have gotten lucky with lots of sky food (cargo pods with foodages!)  I started with 2 "hackers" and 1 "war chiefs"  1 digger (with semi decent research) and 1 other guy, each with parkas and cold lover trait (and yes I randomized a long time to get this setup)  Right where I landed there was a steam geyser with an area that could be enclosed.  I immediately closed it up, plopped down a couple campfires.  The enclosed area also had 2 small steel veins I dug up.   I made 4 research tables and sent my extra guy hunting rabbits.  After getting all 6 snow hares, I then took all my people out and hunted the 2 polar bears on the map.   At this time electricity was almost half way done.   This is when things started looking grim for me due to lack of food.   Then randy decided to drop 48 nutrient paste meals :)   Needless to say my 5 people are still alive, we have electricity and I am now working on my battery room and solar panels.   But ya...tribal ice sheet isn't a joke at all.   And it takes some extreme luck and trial and error (more error than trial lol) ;D

I have tried many times, it's just about 100% impossible.  Trees do not grow fast enough to yield wood.   With 60% light and proper heat, they only grow at 17% growth rate.  They will only hit about 38-40% growth by the time they start to decay (and that is not high enough % to yield wood when chopped.  Thus making it just about impossible to grow anything while using campfires as heat/light.  I have personally tried making a scenario where I started with 1 tribe member, with 3000 wood scattered around the map.  This was still not enough to "produce" wood.   So ya you really would have to rush electricity with like 3 or 4 researchers, and maybe hope you get some food cargo pods.   :-\  I think Tynan should add a tribal building light "Tribal fire"  Which is like a camp fire but takes up a 2x2 spot and yields 100% light like a sun lamp does.   But of course this bigger fire should take up a bit more wood, but this would actually allow tribe members to grow trees in gravel.  Thus giving you a bit more of a chance to survive on icesheet.

Go to the work tab, choose manual priorities, then remove the number from research for this guy and he won't do research ever again.
