I enjoy RimWorld's system of mental stability and consequences. Having to understand each colonist's mental strengths and weaknesses in addition to their abilities and equipment levels adds much to the story. I end up caring about the little people. Even annoying Samantha who doesn't care about people and starts fires whenever she feels a little sad.

I think winddbourne is right that richer models of mood and self-expression would make for even more fun. I also like jerpo's suggestion that colonists notice and react to each other's moods.
