That's an interesting workaround, and sounds like it'd work. I still think a simple "Explore" button would be cool, and would prevent you from needing to make a new settlement every time you wanted to hunt or scavenge for food.

Ideas / Caravans stopping to hunt / forage
December 13, 2016, 05:47:53 PM
Now that caravans are a thing in A16, and food can be a problem for long trips, it'd be cool if we could click "Explore" (or something to that effect) to generate a local area, similar to when your caravan is attacked. You could then direct your pawns to hunt or forage in the generated map. This would be a good way to help meet the caravan's food needs.

Bugs / Recruited wife colonist has no sleep scheduled
September 13, 2016, 03:56:44 PM
I just noticed that my recruited colonist (who was the wife of one of my colonists visiting in a trade caravan or visitor group before I arrested her) has no sleep scheduled by default. I kept seeing her working all night but knew she wasn't a night owl, so I checked the Restrict tab and saw this:

No rest for the staggeringly ugly and abrasive, I guess.

It's not gay if two bros do it while stargazing - it's just expected.

Ideas / Re: Your Cheapest Ideas

I posted this in the suggestions forum, but it's also a cheap idea with significant returns, so I think it belongs here too:
Make pawns prioritize engaging in joy activities together. It'd be a very humanizing touch, especially if the pawns have a high opinion of each other. This simple tweak would have multiple benefits:
Make pawns prioritize engaging in joy activities together. It'd be a very humanizing touch, especially if the pawns have a high opinion of each other. This simple tweak would have multiple benefits:
- This could lead to memorable vignettes like a husband and wife lying side by side stargazing, or two friends playing chess or billiards.
- This would allow pawns to build relationships while fulfilling their joy needs.
- Having fun together is just something humans like to do, so it would make the game more lifelike.
- It would cut down on pathetic scenes like someone playing chess by himself while someone shoots pool by herself in the next room.

Yeah, the "forever alone" social relaxation gets me every time. Surely there's an easy way to make joy-seeking pawns prioritize doing joy activities adjacent to each other, where they can talk and build rapport. It'd make the colony seem even more alive, I think.

And for that matter, engaging in any joy activity together. It'd be a very humanizing touch if pawns preferred to engage in joy activities together, especially if the pawns have a high opinion of each other. This could lead to vignettes like a husband and wife lying side by side stargazing, or two friends playing chess or billiards.
The game is full of emergent humanizing moments, and a preference to play or relax together would be an easy way to produce a whole lot more of those moments.

Bugs / Billiards table includes itself as an obstacle when checking for empty space
September 04, 2016, 04:52:30 PM
I've noticed that when reinstalling a billiards table, you can't move it into a space that would have standable space on all sides, but for the billiards table presently being in that spot. It should let you move it there, because once they table is uninstalled, there will be nothing in the way.
To make it clearer, here's a picture:

As you can see, the intended spot would have standable space on all sides, but for the table currently being there. I think this is a bug, or at least a flaw that should be corrected.
