Ideas / Some rudimentary AI in battle please?

When I send my pawns to hunt they know to stalk their pray maintain distance and fire. Why do I have to micromanage their every move in a battle situation? Why would they fire at an enemy when another pawn is in their direct line of fire. Why would they throw that grenade into that crowd that contained their life mates?

I would love to see at least as much AI for battle as my pawns have for picking corn.

We need the wheel. We need carts, wheelchairs, front loaders, back loaders and side loaders. We need trucks and caravans, ATV's

We neeeed these things.

But I can not make them. So i implore you..

I've been thinking about this. If you can make the space playfield the same size as the original playfield you may be able to have mineable asteroids and so forth "in space" Also hostile and friendly ships. Ok, here's another thought. Play game/build ship/launch ship/ ship becomes small/mobile on regular sized playfield called space with asteroids, planets and other threats. when you click on space ship it takes you to the third / ambush screen which is your ships interior.

Mods / So is anyone working on getting into space?

So I was in the shower and thinking about Rim. Specifically, I was wondering if anyone had considered adding a spacefaring element to the game now that we have a few more mechanics to work with.

My idea is several parts. The first being the starship. Which would be built on the original playing field. It would be a much larger undertaking than building an escape vehicle. You would need to have most of the comforts of home available. Structures for propulsion life support the entire nine.

Once built the starship may be launched. You put all your colonists on there and launch at which point the playfield changes to a dark outer space graphic with the appropriate garbage satellites / asteroids / Space junk your colonists are then basically confined to the ship which they will then decide to travel to another planet on the rim or to move over a certain area of the current planet and trade/invade/ etc. Of course, there will be options to take space walls to make repairs or to take a drop pod to the surface for supplies.

Threats would come in the form of asteroid belts and other starships that would enter onto the playfield in much the same way they do now and engage in actions.

I was thinking the addition of the travel and camping mechanics might make this a lot easier. I have no clue I'm way to busy enjoying the game to figure out how it works. But what about you brainiacs?

I fully agree with sola's view on this matter. I understand that the game is about overcoming the obstacles associated with a colony stranded on the rim. Unable to haul is both immersion breaking, and an unnecessary arbitrary mechanic when in fact every profession in the game "carries". You should also make that pawn a social pariah because in any situation he would be reviled and soon accidently killed.

I like Orions hospitality and feel it would fit into the game easily and adds an awful lot of playability.
