I posted this idea in the Cheap Idea Threat as well, I would may it so much more easier to replace wall without deconstructing the old one first. Also handy when you need to replace bad quality items.

Ideas / Re: My thoughts on why Rimworld feels frustrating rather than fun much of the time

Hmmm.. I'm not sure about OP's opinion, for me personally I think luck is what makes the game interesting. If you get a cat at a start or pyromaniac, just accept it and continue the game, because that is exactly what it is in real life sometimes - we should expect even worse in Rimworld! If everything turns out so perfect, the game gets boring very quickly.
If you find it's too difficult, why don't you tune down the difficulty level a bit? I don't see why that doesn't help your issue now.

I'd love when in building mode you can add a "Replace" mode toggle. When you turn this mode on, you can place new items on top of existing items and the pawns would automatically disassemble the existing item then replace it with the new item without you manually having to select the existing item, ordering them to be disassembled, then putting the new item on top. This would be convenient in cases when you want to upgrade the wall (ie: from wood to steel) or replacing a badly made item (ie: shoddy bed)
