Mods / Re: [Mod Request] Impalement and "Decoration"

You spook about "feels like cheating" about butchering humans for organs/meat/skin, don't forget you are geting a colony/global wide malus for butchering human.
But you want that your pawn don't got a negative mood from seeing all the "cruel" things, isn't that "like cheating" too ? :-)

Sure, it is cheating in a sense, I won't deny. But it still doesn't really give you anything to easily amass and sell/stockpile then kick back for a while. This is a personal thing, but I really am not a fan of super advanced life on the Rim, I like scraping together supplies so it actually feels like survival. This is not related to the request at hand, just elaborating as to why I feel the way I feel towards the previously mentioned mechanic. Same goes for amassing smokeleaf joints and selling them en masse. Essentially it's a self-challenge.

Currently i don't know a mod which give this kind of furniture, but that shouldn't be hard to create.
Together with the Cult of Madness mod, you can sacrifice some prisoner and ask the right deity to give your pawn the psychopath trait, so he don't care anymore if he see corpse or this kind of bad things.

Never really tried any Cult mods, doesn't really fit my play-style but I might look into it. I usually run paramilitary-type groups or tribal-medieval towns and villages, sometimes with multiple colonies specialized in certain things. The alternative is, as always, keep it vanilla-friendly, so you are right in that regard if the mod would otherwise feel unbalanced by giving no debuffs to normal colonists.

Mods / [Mod Request] Impalement and "Decoration"
October 30, 2017, 10:13:01 AM
Hello, I can see that requests are a thing here, so here's my submission. If such a mod exists, please feel free to point me in its direction instead.

Now, I am not one to bother with trivial things like graves or cremation, at least unless it's colonists or friendlies that have done me good before expiring, in which case I can spare a sarcophagus or two. I tried mass graves before and that is just too tame, the corpse bonfire from Medieval Times does me more bad than good, but it makes for a good decor, cannibalism and organ harvesting just feels like cheating for easy access to valuable trade goods, food and spares.

So, in order to solve my amassing corpse problems, I turn to you.

Impalement, or Crucifying, or nooses to hang bodies from... Or cages, hanging cages. Hanging cages for boiled babies. Head piles? Head piles. Organ piles too. Or possibly all of the options.

The most important question about this is if it is possible for colonists to be unaffected by these, only raider pawns, lowering a chunk of their mood for the duration they spend on the map, should stack like corpse sightings do. The drawback could be that friendly factions would leave if they see them and therefore forcing you to be an active trader rather than sit on your ass all day and boondoggle. Naturally, the decor should spoil and deteriorate until the corpses/body parts/organs rot away, and at the end it leaves the item empty and a refill would be in order.

Regardless of possibility (or not) of the idea, I would love feedback for the idea at the very least.

Help / Question about Animal races and genders
October 29, 2017, 08:25:31 AM
I deeply apologize if this has been asked before or if it's in some sort of FAQ, but I have no time to read much right now, my internet is really unstable right now and it might lose its connection by the time I am done reading.

I just want to know if it is possible to have multiple animals belong to the same race, for example I have a creature race called "Goliath", they come in "Pure" and "Corrupt" varieties, but, I want them to be the same race, so for example a Pure male could mate with a Corrupt female, and the baby could come out being either Pure or Corrupt. So essentially, is it possible to have multiple types of an animal that belongs to the same race?

By the way, Slava: Difference between an autistic and a psychopath is this: Psychopaths can understand social subtext and use it just as easily as any other person; they just don't care about other people's welfare. Autistics really suck and understanding and using social subtext, but once they know about what other people are thinking and feeling, they care as much as anybody does. If you have a conscience (and it's not a simulation), you're not a psychopath; if you have normal social skills (and didn't have to work your butt off to learn them), you're not autistic.

I'm autistic, by the way. It mostly means I'm socially oblivious, detail-oriented, and get absolutely fascinated with one thing at a time. I started playing Rimworld a little under three weeks ago, and Steam says I have 272 hours in it. That's autism for ya. Oh, and the "socially oblivious" thing--if I do or say something that's annoying and I'm clueless about it, please clue me in before I drive you nuts... thanks!

That's the thing, I can identify traits, or "symptoms" from both cases. But I don't want to derail the thread in order to talk about myself of all things, I hate making myself look like an attention whore. If you do want to talk about this, or talk about anything at all, just message me or something, making friends is a pretty good thing I think. Though it might take about 5 days for me to respond, I'll lose internet in about maybe 10 minutes until the first of November.

Well, firstly, Tynan thank you for creating a great game and a, well, decent community I suppose? Sorry, haven't spent much time here to rate the community yet, don't take this the wrong way.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
I was trying to play DF for a long time but to no avail. I simply couldn't get used to the interface. Then I see a random suggested video on Youtube about this game, it looks like a more accessible version of Dwarf Fortress, just in space. So I pirated it and played it a few times, finally giving up after a depressing but memorable Tribal run. I doubt I will ever have an experience like that again. It was the smack middle of winter, low on food, Pirates attacked my starting tribe of 5 and my female space refugee who was armed with a bolt action rifle. The siege lasted for a while, and the survival instinct was real. Ultimately, we were victorious, but at the cost of half the village. And then, starvation did the rest in. The game sat around on my hard drive for a while now and I have tried the game again just this month and now I'm back into it.

-What's your favorite other game?
The classic Fallouts, New Vegas, Jagged Alliance 2, Morrowind, Baldurs Gate to an extent, Crusader Kings 2, This War of Mine, Planescape Torment, Doom, Civilization, Darkest Dungeon, Mount & Blade and all of its expansions, Bad Rats, you know, the good stuff. Most of them are pirated however, I live in poverty and I can't afford them, the only reason I even own a laptop is because of the money I inherited from my late grandmother, but I'm not here to talk about my sob story of a life.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
Every time I play a competitive multiplayer game nowadays is a story of its own, unless I really get lucky.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
Reese's Puffs, eat 'em up.

To add onto this, I am just a 21 year old Serbian guy that drinks and smokes too much, and sunflower seeds have become my main way of nutrition. The only thing I'm missing is an Adidas tracksuit and I'd fit the stereotype just right, but I prefer leather. No, I do not eat babies, nor do I attend genocidal operations on daily basis. Contrary to popular belief I do not live in a hut in some tribe, and as far as I am aware I have not chased off or murdered any outsiders as soon as they stepped into our borders although I can't confirm this due to having permanent amnesia every time I drink, but please do mail me as many 7.62x39 ammunition boxes, AKs and accordions as humanly possible, a bear family is trying to break into my house and I think my dog is collaborating with them, don't ask what the accordions are for. While you're at it please inform Comrade Putin that I have burned through my daily supply of Vodka and I might need seconds.

I am a minor fan of Anime or "Manime" as they call them such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Berserk, Fist of the North Star, Cory in the House, Shrek, Airplane Instruction Manuals from the 80's, and Boku No Pico. I especially recommend the last one, only true men can endure it.

Shitposting and jokes aside, I aspire to direct and write two cartoons in my lifetime, a children's one, and an adult one. The chances of that are pretty much a zero, due to my endless lack of funds, aaaaaand due to the fact my country still thinks anime is just for kids, let alone cartoons.

As for who I am, well again, I'm just a guy. I have my likes and dislikes, I have my hobbies, so, basically just like everyone else, though I prefer not to talk about them due to possibly instigating an argument. I speak fluent Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Semi-Fluent English although that is due to my accent getting in the way, I know some Macedonian and Bulgarian, currently I only know how to curse in Russian, and I used to speak German pretty freaking fluently but that just... Disappeared from my brain, I guess I really wasn't into it.

I don't know if I'm an Autist or a Psychopath, I don't have the money to get either confirmed or not, but I know I am not Insane because I question my sanity about 10 times a day and I am pretty sure actually Insane people lack the self awareness in that regard.

Now that I have successfully ensured that about 99% of you will avoid me like the plague and the remaining 1% is going to send hitmen after me, I can conclude this post.

P.S: The part about the bears wasn't a joke, send help.

Mods / Re: Quick Question

Thank you very much for the kind replies, I won't lie, I wasn't expecting any at all because I just literally appeared here.

Well, to just add onto what you guys said, I would prefer to release my own mods and bear my own load rather than have someone else get criticism for things I made, I am not exactly a good artist, I'll show an example I did while waiting for replies.

But, thank you for the mood lift regardless, I'll try my best.

Mods / Quick Question
October 25, 2017, 09:39:54 AM
I made this account just to ask this question, so I know in advance if I should bother starting with mods and whatnot.

I am not very experienced with modding overall, but I've been enjoying this game and I do want to give something to the community as well, but in the case that I fail at making a functioning mod, are modding resources in any way shape or form appreciated? I wouldn't mind dumping a bunch of textures for more knowledgeable people to use in their mods.
