That's insane, I've never seen a colony or a raid of this size. Mortars OP lol.

Psychopaths can for relationships, at least they could pre-A18. I made a group with Prepare Carefully mod that I use on most new games, and one of them is a vatgrown supersoldier who is a bloodlusting psychopath. Due to my love of the Hitman games, combined with a general lack of creativity, I named him 47. He gets married in most games, albeit not quite as quickly or easily as the rest of the group.

After several games, there was only one I can recall where 47 didn't get into a relationship, and I don't think he has ever been divorced. I can't recall if any of his lovers had also been psychopaths, but he did tend to hook up with military-minded women more often than not.

I started a new game with this group once A18 hit, and the colony is a little over a year old now. 47 has not gotten into a relationship as of yet. I'm not sure if it is just how this play-through worked out, or if anything has changed that prevents him from finding love now. I run a fairly modded game, but none that directly affect social interactions (as far as I know anyway).

Do you use any mods that change how social dynamics work, like Psychology mod?

If this project goes anywhere, I would be interested in progress updates!

Quote from: Kindyj on December 26, 2017, 02:17:19 PMYour Right, any Board game can not fully contain the Complexity of a Computer game, just for the simple fact of Bookkeeping. But a Boiled down version of Rimworld would work I think. I'm thinking a Dead of winter style game. Maybe if you include an App partner like the XCOM Board game to do the Bookkeeping, it could be more complex.

But the general idea is that it's a Co-op Board game playing against the Game(Dead of Winter Style). There would be rounds in which each player gets to take actions. whether that's plant a field/Hunt/Heal/etc. after each round a Card from the event deck is drawn and effects the colony or Certain pawns.

...this may never come to fruition because I'm not a follow through kind of person, but it's fun to imagine.
Before you think this can't be done via a board game, you might want to consider the Civilization series of computer games is based strongly on the Diplomacy series of board games.  Then there's paper map-and-counters war games that include detailed supply models, and THOUSANDS of varying little unit/condition/event counters and whatnot.  "Bookkeeping" isn't as much of a barrier as you seem to think, although yes, it certainly matters.

After all, given a map, D&D is easily considered a "board game", and no PC game will likely approach the complexity of the paper-and-pencil version.  Starfleet Battles is another good example of a game that has NEVER been as complex on computers, as in paper-and-pencil play, that has silly amounts of paperwork involved ;).

If you elaborated a Settlers of Catan-"esque" game with a good number of extra mechanics, yeah, you could probably do it to any arbitrary level of abstraction desired.  Believe it or not, there actually are game freaks who will play enormously elaborate games like this (not me, though!).

Yeah, I hadn't considered D&D and similar titles when I mentioned that a board game likely couldn't capture the complexity of RimWorld. Sure it's possible to some extent, but I don't think that it would be worth it. A lot of sacrifices would have to be made to make the RW equivalent of a board game though.

I'm going to follow this because I'm genuinely curious if you will ever be able to get them to date (before their inevitable deaths). please keep updating!

Unless you have a specific grudge against the specific spawns that visited you previously, wouldn't it be enough to just slaughter slavers of the same faction?

That's pretty brutal. I don't think I've ever had to melee with a scyther before. Your tribal pawn deserves a plasteel monument!

I was curious about this as well, I normally don't bulid very close to the edge, but my current colony that I'm doing a LP with is pretty damn close to the top edge of the map and I'm worried that I'll get a raid that spawns right outside of my base. So far nothing like that has happened yet though. But if it does, oh well good content right?

It's a neat idea, but I think a RimWorld board game wouldn't possible be able to capture the complexity and nuances of the PC game that make it so fun and so special.

I do think you have a good idea going here though. I think the world could use some more colony management / survival type board games. Now I wouldn't suggest trying to turn RimWorld into a board game, but I think you could probably come up with something inspired by RW that could be pretty incredible.

Getting RimWorld for $30 is a steal. It has more value that $60 AAA games these days. Kids like this have a rude awakening ahead of them in life.

Video / [B18] Swamp Landers - Psychology Mod Let's Play
December 23, 2017, 10:30:22 PM

Hey Friends, Let's Play Some RimWorld Beta 18!

Psychology Mod
Crash landed - Cassandra Classic - Some Difficulty - Temperate Swamp
Episode 1 - Click Here | Playlist - Click here

This is my first RimWorld Let's Play on my channel, so I wanted to go for the 'standard' RimWorld experience with some light modding. In the future I'm going to do more series with harder difficulties and crazier scenarios.

I'm open to and welcoming as much feedback as possible. I'm fairly new to YouTube and still working on getting my act together. Thanks for your time!

Lol I get way too attached to my pawns once I cross the one year mark. I struggle through until everybody has succumbed to horrible, painful deaths.

I'm not aware of any way to 'force' a relationship without modding or using dev tools. I haven't had very many psychopath pawns either, but I haven't seen any of them form any romantic relationships ever.

Stories / Re: The luckiest pawn alive.

Way back when I first starting playing, I had a colony with a pyromaniac pacifist that was my lone survivor on three separate occasions until he finally had a mental break, burned down what was left of my colony, passed out in a burning room and died. So he was pretty damn lucky... until he wasn't

That's amazing. It's too bad you didn't get any screenshots or video recording of this. I can't say I've quite seen anything like that in any of my games.

Why did you decide to quit the save after such an epic sort-of-victory?
