Support / [DRM-Free Order Questions]
July 07, 2018, 10:39:50 AM
Those who purchased RimWorld directly from the Ludeon Studios website have been informed that they will receive both a Steam key and a download of a standalone installer for the DRM-free edition.

This topic only covers questions regarding the download and installation process of the DRM-Free edition of RimWorld.

(please note that there are three ways to categorize builds:
Versions: the progression of updates which occurs naturally as the game is changed over time.
Platform: the system the game is compiled for.
Edition: the client/lack thereof which the game is meant to run on.  In this case, it applies to the PC platform.)

My first open question requires a bit more setup:
I know that upon purchase, the consumer is allowed six downloads of the most recent version, and after a download has begun (Not when it ends, as annoying as it is), the number decreases by one for the platform-version quota.  I am also aware that after each update, the quota resets.  However, very little indication is given about exactly which version (not platform) is able to be downloaded.
With the rolling out of the beta builds and the version 1 launch, how do I know which version I am downloading before I click the download button only to find I'm downloading the version I already had?  I know about the auto-check-for-updates that RimWorld currently has, but that doesn't provide information about the version number of the download button on SendOwl, which can only be clicked to any effect a finite number of times (assuming the business model of Ludeon Studeos or SendOwl doesn't change and that support for RimWorld will eventually end).

I think it would be useful to at very least change the SendOwl download page text to show the version number next to the game's title, if not provide options to download beta/legacy versions.
