Mods / Re: [MOD SUGGESTION] Darker Music
June 07, 2022, 07:54:46 PM
Really sad the game after all these years has the same 2 boring way too happy songs over and over again. The soundtrack of Rimworld always was the only thing I didnt like about it. I want a darker soundtrack to the game, and not that guitars solo which totally doesnt fit at all to the game.

Something like this also with an eternal rain mod:

Hello Canute,

thanks but that was not what this is all about. I gave specific examples where it should be shown.

This is NOT about the skills, this is about the work type!

You just gave one example where you could see it with (too many) clicks actually necessary. And yours is about the skill, not the work type!

More important is the other things I gave examples for.

- on the workbench  show the "work type" you need for, each bill would be the same work type obviously so it doesnt make sense to look into bills.

- show it in blueprints frame

- show it in the queue (hud of current work)

- show it for right click orders

There are several situations where you cant see it, and it is really annoying to figure out. Some might be "obvious" like cooking, or researching. But some main work types are too "structured", like handle, basic, ect, and you dont see from in the game what what is, but if you hover the mouse over the work type in the work gui with a (too long) list.

A mod giving the examples I gave would be simple, handy and would make the game better in a large way.

Hello,

this always was a huge annoyance to me, as a "newbie" to the game, but even after 100+ gameplay, I always thought this was an important information, which is totally lacking from the game. It would be either a good mod, or good idea to build into the game itself. Especially for new players, it could be hard to figure out, what "work type" something is.

Idea to fix / make the game better:

- put a ("work type") in the info panel when you click a blueprint, crafting station, or when you right click something and the current "job" someone is doing in the info HUD.

There is at least one situation, where it would make sense to do surgery without medicine/anesthetic, and it happened several times to me and I am a bit annoyed, the game doesn't let you.

- imagine a new game, where also no herb plants are on the entire map
- someone gets an infection in a hand/arm/leg and it needs to be cut off

Under normal situation you would obviously do it to at least have a small chance to have the person survive.

But Rimworld seems to follow the logic: No surgery without anesthetic, even if it means the patient dies.

When pressing middle mouse to drag camera, it sometimes jumps to random position on the map. This happens with 100% chance when you click on any GUI element but the map itself in the game. For example opening research GUI and click middle mouse into the GUI and drag mouse.

Middle mouse hold to drag camera needs to be disabled to move map when clicked on other elements but the map itself.

Hey,

I have a laptop with dual graphics, Intel UHD630 and Nvidia GTX1050ti. I want to play Rimworld with the Intel graphics, so the laptop stays fanless, also doesnt use too much power on battery or that I can play with small 60W usb c charger, compared to large 180W charger.

The issue is now, that it seems, for whatever reason, that Rimworld ignores the forced GPU, you can select in the Nvidia panel, and always uses the Nvidia GPU. I monitor this via HwInfo and MSI Afterburner Overlay.

I also tried right click on RimWorldWin64.exe and select "run with this graphics processor" and chose Intel, still, it will be ignored.

The override works for me with any other game or application, but not Rimworld.

Would be a great change, if you maybe could implement a "chose GPU" setting in the game itself, in the graphics settings, and/or could look into, why it ignores the "run with gpu" setting of Windows 10 / Nvidia Panel.

I am using latest stable Steam version.

Thanks for reading
