Off-Topic / Re: Most Anticipated Game Of 2014?

Definitely Pillars of Eternity, but I'm hoping for Civilization: Beyond Earth to be good too.

Off-Topic / Re: What's your favorite game soundtrack?

Hmmmmmm... I've played some games with some really nice soundtracks, but I have to go with Payday 2. Brings me right back into the game every time I hear the assault themes.

If Steam would do that for you, I know I'd love it.

Quote from: Tynan on February 02, 2014, 12:23:05 PM2. I'm thinking about this one. It's a toughie.
You'll probably need some building like a "Mine Elevator" that a colonist disappears into and come out of with a bunch of metal after a delay, but you'd need to add some kind of restriction on construction, like only on the rock floors you get when you mine out a wall or something.

We could at least get the hurt residents into normal beds marked as for wounded colonists now, and add the medical gear later. Our medical wards just won't be as advanced until then. :)

Ideas / Re: Limit Populations = Food

Perhaps I'm just not understanding the kind of storage you mean. Do you mean that if I have more food, then I'll lose a greater percentage of my food to spoilage? Because otherwise, it's all multiplication: 2x as many tables, means 2x as much in storage at a time, meaning 2x as much spoilage, but it's fine because you still have 2x as much food to feed your 2x colonists.

Using food to limit population size does nothing unless there is a limit to how many food-growing operations we can build. Historically, that means arable land.

If hydroponics are in the game, then you're stuck with one of two situations: either a colonist can be at least productive enough with a table to feed themselves, in which case you're only limited by the metal it takes to build the hydroponics setup, or they can't, in which case hydroponics are useless.

General Discussion / Re: A Question of Distribution

I'm going to file this under "silly questions people ask".

But I wouldn't share it, no. There are so many gameplay videos out there that the only reason you'd need to "try" the game before buying is if you anticipated needing a looooooong time to make your decision. >.>

Yeah, let's not ignore that fact. Every time there's a "RimWorld should totally have multiplayer!" I slink in under the five hundred "yeah! Multiplayer rules!" replies and ask what would make it fun. I think the best I've gotten is a "it's just neat to build on the same map as my friend", but usually people ignore the question and continue with their "me too!"ing.

That's not a very good reason to want them to stay. A reason to want them to stay would be because they are fun to use. If it's too hard to survive without them, and they really do make survival easier (which this thread contests), then if they're removed then survival can simply be made easier to compensate.

I can't say I'd be too sad to see the turrets go. If Tynan wants to hurry them out the door, then I'd be glad to help them with their bags if it means they'll be gone that much sooner.

Uh, did I miss something? When did Google become Apple?

They'd totally put a "+" after it.

I keep hearing about them from time to time, and like what I hear. If they're gonna Kickstart soon, then I'll definitely have to give that a look.
