General Discussion / Re: How's the disease balance?
January 06, 2015, 10:33:35 PM
In terms of your description, I'd say you hit the mark pretty well with disease. I would, however like to see disease have a good possibility of spreading. As of now, disease is only a slight inconvenience cause your pawn has to go to bed once a day or so for treatment until immunity sets in. Maybe splitting "medicine" into several different items like "bandages" for wounds, "antibiotics" for disease, and "anisthetic" for operations would add a bit of depth to that game mechanic. If you don't have antibiotics, and malaria starts spreading through your colony... Now THAT would be inconvenient. Again, one colonist being sick for a couple of days is rarely a big concern, but worrying about a quarantine or time-sensitive treatment would add some depth.

I'm pretty sure you can add none-steam games to Steam 0.o

Have you tried doing that?

This. If you're that OCD about it (and believe me, I understand...) then just add it to the steam library.

How about a risky surgical procedure?

If successful, it reduces the severity of the damage. If not you run the risk of crippling your character further? If done right it could be be one of those weighty decisions.

This is what I was thinking. A failed procedure could render the doctor with the depressive state, permanently altering his mood. This would also utilize the dynamic psychology that a few people have mentioned on here. Then the depressive state could eventually be overcome (a happy marriage, a highly skilled social colonist, a long period of time...etc) or it could never go away, maybe even end in a rampage or suicide.

I think options are good, but weighted options are better and way more dramatic.

Ideas / Re: Multiplayer

Another MP idea, let me know what you think...

Each RL player controls/is responsible for one colonist. Together you must build your colony, manage your own needs and those of the other players/colonists.

This scenario gives it a more Terraria/Minecraft type of feel, where you only control yourself, instead of managing several AIs.

I'm pretty sure you can just locate the deer herd and, with the hunt tool selected, just click and drag over the herd. No need to hand select each one.

Would deleting the save file do anything here?

General Discussion / Re: Can uranium be found naturally?
December 30, 2014, 06:55:50 PM
Destroying cryptosleep caskets can yield uranium apparently. I can't 100% confirm that but to make a long story short, after a rather insane firefight in a cryptosleep room, during which many caskets were destroyed, I ended up seeing a colonist hauling uranium back to the colony.

Take it for what it's worth....

A cybernetic centipede lands on the planet, but instead of landing somewhere safe and in the open, it lands inside of a cryptosleep room. Naturally, he decided to begin lighting all of the cryptosleep chambers on fire thus awakening its inhabitants who all instantly aggro. Four of the occupants flee, apparently wanting to raid my colony instead (and of course failing miserably in this endeavor). Three remain in the cryptosleep room to fight the centipede. The crypto warriors succeed in incapacitating the centipede, however, a cryptosleep chamber explodes just as the centipede is taken down, killing one fighter and setting another on fire and completely incinerating her.

Considering we should have faced a minigun-wielding cybernetic space centipede, we were quite pleased to only have to deal with a few raiders, and then reaping the benefits.
