A colonist will pick up something, start to carry it somewhere, immediately drop it, and then repeat. This has happened with everything from loose metal to debris to their morning meal. It occurs randomly without apparent trigger event, and sometimes resolves itself.
Sometimes I can fix it by drafting the colonist in question, ordering them to walk somewhere, and then ordering them to prioritize the item in question, but this doesn’t always work (and in the case of meals, sometimes just results in them hauling the meal to a stockpile and going back to the dispenser for another one, which they then proceed to constantly drop and pick back up).
I apologize for lack of technical information, but I'm honestly not sure what's causing this.
