...i fail to see how this would "break your immersion"

You're welcome to your opinions and feelings, and I'm welcome to mine. But trying to tell me that I'm wrong about how I feel? What the hell dude?

Honestly, the only solution I see is never build under mountains. Really wish they would only spawn on rock walls and rock floor.

I really wish they only spawned on rock or rock wall.

The idea of having these things magically appear inside a base with steel walls and crafted floors just breaks a lot of the immersion for me. Instead of giving mountain building flavor, it's just making it irritating. Having them pop up while mining your mountain / clearing out area to build a base would make the most sense, and definitely would add a degree of trouble.

I think for a finished ( i.e. no natural rock ) base not having to deal with hives should be a reward for going through all that trouble. Not to mention you still have some threats in the way of temperature dangers. I.e. crazy heat / fire issues.

Is this some kind of decay?  I've got some hay that's only like 3/100 red, but it says it has over a year until it spoils?

There's no explanation for whatever that is anywhere. Would appreciate some details. My concern is its some kind of deterioration and my stuff is decaying more than it says. If so, how can I stop it? Do I have to refrigerate wood? Sounds ridiculous. >.<

General Discussion / Re: Caravans = Loot pinatas?

Robbing a trade caravan should cause a huge reputation hit.

Some are more obvious as to what they mean but quite a number of them, I don't understand what it's trying to suggest.

Bugs / Re: No ore in map
September 18, 2014, 03:31:42 PM
Did further testing. Bug is very easy to replicate.

Any new world. Pick a specific site. Place a colony there. Exit back to main menu. Place a new colony there. That colony may have 'some' ore, but it will be very little. Any further colonies will have none.

Original Colony. http://i.imgur.com/sR3lTtF.jpg - Many ore all over.
Colony 2. http://i.imgur.com/qU2JQhZ.jpg - Only a single ore vein.
Colony 3. http://i.imgur.com/riBaT6q.jpg - No ore.
Colony 4. http://i.imgur.com/o5YabxL.jpg - No ore.

- From fresh extract of Version Alpha 6 - 532 Windows, on Windows 7

Zip of world save. Couldn't add colony saves because it was over the minimum limit of attachment size..

I'm having this same problem as well.

I've found the most reliable way to recreate this is to pick an area on a map to land a colony on.. then try going back to that same spot. There will be way less ore, to none.

This is very frustrating as I've been trying to find an optimal spot to land on before taking the time to pick a good starting crew, but honestly with no ore on the map that makes it a waste of time. Very frustrating.

Yup, thats the bug. And yeah it's pretty frustrating. Not game breaking or anything, and I've forced myself to work around it but yeah.

Sorry, this is played on Windows 8.

For example, say I have weapons, apparent, corpses, and a couple other categories showing all their individual items, such that I have to scroll up and down a big list, it gets to where when you try to click on certain things, it's not working right, like you have to work at getting it to click the thing you mean.

Hard to explain, but I found when minimizing categories it behaved normally.

To test it, I opened everything up, and it was even worse, when trying to click anything not on the very ends of the list. I.e. If scrolled all the way up, or all the way down, it behaves correctly, otherwise, well, you'll see.

QuoteOh, so you wanted some children to sell to slavers, then? I guess that's...a good reason to breed...

Or as an alternative food source.

... I know. I know, that's horrible. I'll just.. go hide somewhere else in shame.
