Just lost my colony to the Manhunter event.

The wargs were just camping my colonists houses so they couldn't get out. Most of my colonists went insane and died.

''This meal tastes different. What did you change this time chef?''

''This time its a girl.''

That is true. I also just made my base in the open for the ''challenge'' and for building a nice town.

Most mountains have thick roofs I believe. And I understand that it takes a hell of a time mine it all out. But it is worth the wait. As I said before no fallout, maneaters or mortars. Those three things have made my colony get in real trouble real fast.

Building outside just seems so stupid these days..

General Discussion / Why live outside mountains anymore?
November 12, 2015, 05:10:07 AM
I have always made my town outside of mountains but now I am starting to think it is just a death sentence. I returned to the game after a long time off to see that there has been made loads of good stuff! The siege thing is fine because the challenge is fun but now with Toxic fallout, maneaters and other nasty stuff it is pretty hard to defend yourself.

Making a base inside a mountain can be very hard to set up (Atleast for me.) but the fact that you get some much defensive is pretty nice. And you dont get affected by the toxic cloud and maneaters as much. And mortars cant do much either can they?

I would sure like to see some more events where you go ''Oh shit''.

I never build mountain bases so sieges are pretty annoying. But I would really like something which just makes you think that this might just be the end.
Would be cool if dangers to mountain bases would be added. Earthquakes maybe?

I hear from travelers by that parkas make the tundra like a playground.

Havent heard much else from the lands up north. I stick to the deserts of the south o;

I think as one of the people above said that it is too easy to bypass the mechanic :/

As soon as I get parkas its gg just like living in the other biomes.. Just with less food and trees.

i'd like to literally just see raiders drop their weapons in surrender, seeing your ally surrender might cause you to as well. maybe your colony is known for treating people who surrender kindly, healing them and such, so if a raider is badly wounded surrendering is the only way he'll make it out alive

I dont think this will work in practice because if you have like 30+ Tribals coming at you and 20 of them surrender then you are going to have a big housing/feeding problem ://

Same here! o; I had one of my wardens starve to death because he found it more important to give the prisoners food than feeding himself :'(

i don't even use sunlamps anymore. i just open up a 1x4(?) roofless area on top of each hydrophonics table.
I think hydroponics count as those sensitive electrics, so they spark in the rain, causing fires and damage. I know sun lamps are sensitive electrics Plus, the point of hydroponics is to grow stuff indoors. If you're gonna leave them outdoors, might as well just stick with a growing zone of arbitrary size.

rain isn't much of a problem in deserts. plus, hydrophonics grow veggies faster.

potatoes + berries + meat (human meat, mostly) = delicious

I have seen that you can grow crops in the dirt parts of the desert too.. I was kinda dissapointed because I fought that living in the desert meant mainly living off meat.

And no. I never really use planning mode ://
