General Discussion / Re: Build releases vs modding

Rimworld is a game that relies almost completly on mods.

Is this really fair?

My personal opnion is that a good game like this can take the freedom to hold a release for a couple months. It also gives that confortable time to testers feedback all issues that may come to pass, soo it's a win-win for everybody.

Agreed, but isn't this already the case? I'm pretty sure that Tynan already said that he wanted more time to pass between the updates, besides you must agree that each new update boosts the hype for the game which in turn boosts the modding community

I mean if it took say eight months for each update wouldn't at least some people including modders lose interest, which would be lose-lose?

maybe you could clean the edges with some AA and add a thicker black outline (the wings) so it matches the core stuff and scales better?

otherwise pretty cool :)

I incoporate sleeping spot legless guests into my entrance kill box thing, if the raiders have plenty of melee I fall back to secondary positions and then hose the entire room with fire while they deal with the maimed fodder

That way they also stay fresh longer in my desert colony and I can still cash in if a slaver comes, multitasking ho! :P

I agree that in DF most of the challenge comes from PvE but in DF you also have a Good/Evil and Calm/Savage elements. You also need to deal with finding water or fighting cave dwellers

But I think you've missed a major danger of forest biomes, a forest fire can be devastating even if you don't build your colony out of timber

I figured to put this on my to do list and poke at it over the next month, I failed

I've cut *every* corner I could, it's heavily based on rw assets and I'm sure someone will find something heavily borked with it but as far as OSP packs go it's not too awful

It still needs work but I'm just sick of it right now, so some other time? :)

^Forgot the screenshots and also that anyone can do just about anything with these files

They way I look at it they came to steal my trenchcoats and cowboy hats, they end up becoming more coats&hats, their neighbours show up, even more coats&hats, even more tribals... It's a vicious circle and I blame the toxic cowboy culture for it! :P

isn't that just a jumpsuit with a envirohelm? I mean shinzy-sama already provided us with those

...but now I want rimworld mecha... :)

I'd love to see more pve like water management and predator animals but going by that list, void gods 100%

I wanna sacrifice me some raiders! :)

Cyborgs are vulnerable as any other colonist
It can be if you have a ton of buried raiders, I had more problems with massive raids
They get less hungry

Regardless, your pestering will not make any of it happen any sooner.
If anything he needs to ramp up his game, it being amazingly effective so far and all but for his efforts I hereby authorise the promotion to the rank of major

Off-Topic / Re: Suggest-a-game

it's possibly a stretch but did you try King of the Dragon Pass? It has simple but cool graphics, slow gameplay and a great story that you uncover taking care of your clan and exploring the world

Then there are Majesty kingdom sims and both the cyberlore original and the paradox sequels are good, their ui can be a pain  :D

You can try Space Colony by firefly, it's colourful, interesting, has aliens and is just complex enough to be fun

Now if you can read Japanese or don't mind trying older games or even using dosbox I could have up to a few dozen games that you prolly never heard of but fit
Quote from: BokaliMali on January 14, 2015, 12:58:07 AMSO I'm looking for a game that moves slowly, gives a sense of exploration, has fun, simple graphics and a not-infuriating UI.

(Been feeling bit exhausted recently!) *Gurk! suffers sudden heart failure and slides under the table holding on to the big large bowl of koffie*
Shinzy Rimram, modder. A man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the coffee. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic modder. Shinzy Rimram will be that modder. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

As a closed tester I am not allowed to give away what is actually coming, but I can give you all this misinformation!

Space Aliens
Landing on new planets
Nuclear strikes against enemy factions
Leeks
In Game notepad
Tornadoes
Anti-drop pod cannons for shooting down enemy drop pods (think anti-air)
Hunting dogs and domesticated animals
Better hunting AI
Oh sweet merciful god yes! With the addition of leeks my colonists can finally make a proper norbal saute :P
