Oh my sweet summer children, this thread has been done before, you should all read the old ones. So much more to see there.

On the topic of lore explanations... one thing I dislike about the Rimworld story is that the colonists hear the ship exploding and run to the escape pods.  I think it makes much more sense to imagine that the ship blew up decades or centuries ago, spewing frozen colonists into orbit like so many dandelion seeds, whose orbits slowly decay and enter the atmosphere one by one...

... which explains why there's so many people on this planet already.  They're the descendants of those who landed before your colonists!

Although, you can also consider that this did happen; however, the section of ship your colonists occupy is still partially intact until something damages it. Thus causing your colonists to wake up and rush to escape pod, not fully realizing they have been adrift for years.

Off-Topic / Re: JFK Files

I let this sit for a while to see what people came up with, but the real reason it was in the JFK files was because the memo from the CIA to JFK about Hitler being alive was in JFK's desk at the time he was killed, thus it was put into archive with all the files.

As an archivist, I've gotten the entire bulk of the released JFK files.

I've gone through about 6500 pages and so far a lot of interesting stuff has been noted.

If anyone wants to know, Hitler survived ww2 and the CIA knew...

The trade penalty isn't that huge and it is mainly because your colonist is in pain. If you look at their health, they probably have like 3% pain, which affects consciousness and their social skill.

My current one is spread out over 3 colonies and we are at 5534.

Another tip for you, when you go to setup a base, send a scouting party of 1 to 2 pawns first and lay down your stockpile zone. Then have your entire caravan enter the map, they will go over to the stockpile zone you have setup and unload there.

I've always wanted guns to be broken down into parts so you can manufacture each part then combine them together.

It would make weapon making a decent trade option and add diversity.

Way to go dude!

I love your production trees, although Luciferium might need some rework as all the drugs mixed doesn't seem to be something that leads to it.

Otherwise, everything else you've done is great. A+ for the hard work and good use of programing. Keep it up!

I always try to give everyone assault rifles because they are so awesome. Only my shock troopers for raids get charge rifles and power armor.

That isn't that bad actually with his two other traits, his pryo one shouldn't be used that often. Just build him a stone bedroom and have him haul and clean. He would have been decent then.

That dev tool has been in the game since animals were introduced. It is meant to force an animal to reproduce for testing purposes; however, it can be forced to make any pawn give birth. Pregnancy for human isn't in the game and this tool isn't meant for that. You are also not the first person to point this out since it was added to dev tools.

Randy just loves to leave you out to dry sometimes. I've gone 2 years without any trade caravans with him, then, the day I use ALL my silver to build a hospital fully, I get 6 trade caravans at once. Luckily I had a lot to sell, but still you know.

Personally, I find myself worn out of all games at times. I'll just go to play a single story based game all the way through then come back. It always helps me renew my gaming spirit. Plus, with this Alpha you can do a lot more in the world, so it's worthwhile to travel.
