It is available without Steam

https://rimworldgame.com/royalty/

That doesn't say it is available 'without Steam', just that the automated system isn't available yet....

However, being it is giving pay options; does that mean it DOES give Send Owl links or does it give a Steam code for you to register on Steam? (Or both?)

I'm kind of curious, being one of the old school ones before the Steam integrations....

Before I purchase this, because I AM going to purchase it, will it be available for direct purchase through you, @Tynan here at your site? And additionally being one that still has the 'Send Owl' Harry Potter download access without DRM of Steam (could always change this to GOG.com someday), will the DLC eventually also be available for us on our Send Owl if direct purchased (if ever made available)?

I do understand if no. Valve does complicate and has a stickler with how they like things to go... I remember how they complicated things with the original transition so if sticking with the DLC there is best, again I DO understand... even if dissapointed.

Would REALLY love the above if possible, however! The backup in the event I lose access to the internet, or whatnot so I could reinstall without internet is an awesome peace of mind! Even with Steam backup, it still requires I found that you have access to the internet to verify... making it worthless other than to 'speed the process'. A real defeat of purpose of my needs for peace of mind. Perhaps.... I'm just too old school in thinking in today's world.

Errors just departed so guessing either it was another updated to the Alien Framework or one was done to Orassans.

I'm getting a whole bunch of errors when I have this mod loaded and I start up the game engine.  I'm seeing about 10 errors of "could not find a type named Orassans.X

Not sure why, the other mods are all working fine its just the Orassans that is broken.
It's due to the update that was just pushed out on Alien Framework. (Hope the PNG helps!)

Edit: Here is the Output_Log.txt of just Orassans and alien framework from steam: https://pastebin.com/mcn3ThyA

I remember reading something about 287 there is an error in loading an Orassans assembly then after on 292 a Loader exception from 'Harmony.CodeInstruction'. Following that is all sorts of 'could not find' errors.

General Discussion / Re: 64 bit vs 32 bit..
August 29, 2018, 04:31:57 AM
In my experience running and monitoring the 64 bit version, while I did see it using more cores I saw no and experienced no loading nor play difference in regards to speed or stability with using large maps in compared to the 32 bit  version. All i use in way of maps. Even while using a ton (over 20) mods. If anything, I will say the 'generating' part of the 100% world was slightly faster. But only slightly in the way of 5 seconds out of 15 seconds total wait time and about 10 seconds for 64-bit.

The only real advantage I can see is when using lots of mods that are memory hungry which some (which I don't use) can be very hungry in this area. The 64-bit will become a real gem because you can access the full range of memory, not just the first 3gb for programs.

But my understanding from what little I've read is Tynan is trying to get things sorted with Steam to where we can have the game default to either 32-bit OR 64-bit on launch and not just 32-bit on launch as it currently is forced by Steam. Not sure why he may have be required to back out the 64 bit launcher part while having this discussion with them. This may or may not be what is going on, just what I've gathered from reading back and forth and mostly from hearsay sadly... so please do not draw conclusions from my statements. I'm just sure Tynan wouldn't withdraw the 64-bit executable without a good reason from the Steam version.

As usual Tynan, I'm in no hurry to see you finish the development. The longer you take, the better the game becomes and not just in terms of polish! From day one until today, the adventure and stories that Rimworld has created has been astounding and fun! Rushed to finish games ALWAYS show they were 'rushed to release' and feel that in the game play.

I'm for one of opinion to be glad Rimworld is benefiting from a developer who has seen this mistake done by so many other developers and not following the footsteps!

I love the changes in the new unstable. Love that there is now a 64-bit version... only it is a bit awkward to get at this being you must open Steam, right click on 'Rimworld' then select the 64-bit launch option...

I know this has been mentioned more than once in the past 100 pages, but could the 32-bit and 64-bit be switched around so it runs 64-bit by default instead of the 32-bit? That or in the Readme.txt include some launch option instruction (like the save file location) so that a launch option like -64 could be added to default it to 64-bit launching?

Easy answer to the question: More area for object X to occur by chance = Greater likelihood of it occurring.

If you want larger quantities of 'steel' have a larger map with more hills (large hills) and more mountains. However, there is a drawback to each map for balancing reasons. You may find greater dangers the easier and more abundant resources become.

How do I know this? Through experience of gameplay. The code can be misleading unless you fully understand all of it and how it interacts with other parts of itself. Experience from game play provides a better picture in my opinion that the amount of resources varies from seed to seed and map generation to map generation to some extent. The same map may 'look' the same however the resources from my experience are never quite the same or in the same locations.  In general, the fact holds true that the larger map provides more resources depending on the TYPE of map you play. Large Hills and Mountains being the highest resource suppliers. The type of rock in the hills and mountains also determine the quantities and type of resources you are likely to find.

General Discussion / Re: Bought in 2013 - No upgrades?
August 10, 2016, 07:48:25 PM
Sadly, looking at the https://ludeon.com/support/, if it is an upgrade to your tier there is no 'upgrade' availible anymore.

QuoteI want to upgrade my tier of RimWorld.
– Sorry, we don't offer this any more, since the admin burden was too high.

There is the option if you have already submitted your Steam Key to Steam of contacting them, asking them to 'delete' the key from your account so you can 'repurchase' a higher tier.

General Discussion / Re: Why is milk a vegetable?
August 10, 2016, 06:12:38 PM
In my opinion, until new food classes are added, the decision to place milk into its current category was a balance decision to limit the meat products vs. plant products for upper cooking levels.

I'm quite sure, in later development, this classification of milk will change. For now, it simply is what it is and is in my opinion an balance decision.

The consistency in reviews says something about the character and ethics of the developer of the game (any game) in my opinion.

you probably already know but some Chinese dude called Mrfengshao has already posted a very hit n miss version of this on Steam.

Skullywag is currently having issues with him uploading copies of his mods.  you may want to look into it?

I think they resolved the issue, the chinese guy is now on this forum uploading translations, and appears pretty amiable to doing things the "correct" way. Not to say a note to him about any other mods may not be in order, just perhaps to not go in guns blazing to begin with.
Should just submit the translations to the original mods imo.

I believe this is the correct way to do things. :)
