Ideas / Re: Frequent Suggestions Topic!

It would be awesome if we could name/rename the tamed animals. Also please make the character limit bigger for colonists names or just the nickname.

- Sunlamps use WAYYY too much power.
- Turrets are destroyed way too easy.
- Swamps and lakes are annoying. I think larger lakes would be better than a bunch of scattered small ones. Add fishing!
- It would be cool to have a little more control over selecting your starting colonists. ie. max age, certain traits, no Dumlabour restriction.

Just my two cents.

When I get prisoners, I will usually strip them down but then they are naked and my colonists wont bring them clothes unless i put a shelf or stockpile with cloths in the jail where the prisoner is. Can you make the colonist bring prisoners cloths. and/or allow colonists to strip specific items so I can strip them of there armor with out making them naked.

Also Orange Prison Clothes would be cool.

Rather than have colonist incapable of a job(s), they should just have a mood loss when assigned, and lock the skill from leveling past lv 1. So every colonist can do every job, but is still balanced and realistic.

*Remove floor*

Add ability to remove floors back to dirt or grass or whatever, or build dirt tiles. As my game progresses, my base layout changes, and I want to remove a building, but the floor that I put down can't be removed and looks awful. I want to be able to remove the floor and let the grass grow back.

*Show outline of blast radius when building turrets.*

I always build my turrets too close together and when one goes, they all go. Could you add a radius indicator when constructing turrets, and/or reduce damage done by explosion so there isn't a domino effect when they explode.

Thanks :)

*Add ability to release prisoners.*

Now that factions have been introduced to the game, it would be cool if there was a way to release prisoners of friendly factions and getting a relations bonus or money/ resources for doing so. Released prisoners should either be escorted or just walk off the map peacefully. Or the faction could come to your base to pick them up and drop off the loot. There could even be bounties for members of a faction from other factions.

Awesome game btw!  8)

Ideas / Re: Preferences when choosing Colonists

YES! I hate clicking the random button a million times. I remember before alpha 2 there were only a few, but now there are some many different types. This gets really annoying when you finally get a good group and the map suck so you have to restart from scratch.

Also on that note it would be cool to add something that lets you choose a map config. Choose to have mountains, no mountains, small mountains, north mountains, south mountains, middle mountains.

Ideas / Weapons/Armor/Tools, Seasons, Animal Farm
April 11, 2014, 05:58:17 PM
I have a few ideas that I think others would enjoy. I'm not sure if any of these have been said yet but whatever.

Melee Weapons for those close encounters.
-Add a slot to add a melee weapon that effects speed and damage done by melee.
-Baseball bats, spears, swords, etc
-ie Sword: adds +2 to melee

Armor to ensure survival.
-Add a slot to add body armor that adds health or damage resistance.
-Hunt animals for leather or smelt metal into armor.
-Could even implement clothes that effect different stats or add weather and keep survivors warm.
-ie Muffalo Leather Coat: Adds 50 hp, blocks 10 dmg, keeps survivor safe in harsh weather.

Tools because crash landing on a barren wasteland, digging metals out of the earth, and building a giant generator, all with your bare hands is.. cheating?
-Add a slot to add a tool that a survivor needs to do certain tasks like building and mining.
-Tools could also be used as melee weapons and could even use the same slot melee weapons.
-ie Hammer: used for building and also adds +1 to melee while equipped

Seasons to give the player an interesting change in pace.
-Seasons: Winter (Cold, blizzards, survivors need to be indoors to warm up and spend less time outside, warm clothes allow a longer duration for being outside, can't grow crops in winter so need to stock up during summer.) Summer (not much different from vanilla RimWorld)

Animal Farm to add more variety to the barren wasteland.
-Add animals that you can herd into a pen (Something that resembles an alien  cow, sheep, pig, or chicken.)
-Resources could be meat, eggs, leather, wool (or an alien equivalent).
-Animals would require fodder that you grow and feed to the animals.
-Animals could breed and have offspring so you don't run out.
-Dogs to help fight raiders, hunt, or protect colonists from those annoying psychotic squirrels. :)

I have a few ideas for mods that others would enjoy. I don't know how to mod but am interested in learning if anyone can point me the the right direction for getting started.

Melee Weapons Mod
-Add a slot to add a melee weapon that effects speed and damage done by melee.
-Baseball bats, spears, swords, etc
-ie Sword: adds +2 to melee

Armor Mod
-Add a slot to add body armor that adds health or damage resistance.
-Hunt animals for leather or smelt metal into armor.
-Could even implement clothes that effect different stats or add weather and keep survivors warm.
-ie Muffalo Leather Coat: Adds 50 hp, blocks 10 dmg, keeps survivor safe in harsh weather.

Seasons Mod
-Got idea while thinking of Armor Mod. I'm sure this has been thought of before and might already be implemented in future release but here are some ideas.
-Seasons: Winter (Cold, blizzards, survivors need to be indoors to warm up and spend less time outside, warm clothes allow a longer duration for being outside, can't grow crops in winter so need to stock up during summer.) Summer (not much different from vanilla RimWorld but need to stock up on resources during this time. Heat Waves could kill crops)

Animal Farm Mod
-Add animals that you can herd into a pen (Something that resembles an alien  cow, sheep, pig, or chicken.)
-Resources could be eggs, leather, wool (or an alien equivalent).
-Animals would require fodder that you grow and feed to the animals.
-Animals could breed and have offspring.

Skirmish Mod
-With the new factions in RimWorld, I think it would be cool if enemy AI had bases on the map and every now and then they would came to raid and pillage.
-They could have different goals when attacking such as stealing all your silver or other resources. Which is why they would have a base on the map so you could steal it back or go for their hard earned resources.
-*This one might be a little over the top and require  larger maps, but it would be awesome to play.

Primitive/ Alternative Start Mod
-To me, it is weird how people could could crash land in a space pod, mine some metal, and then build an advanced electric generator or nutrient paste machine. The game is still in early development, but it would be cool to start with less technology and then research the more advanced buildings.
-A few ideas could be starting with only basic stuff like a fire-pit, spears, bows n arrows, etc.
-Feel free to add anything that makes sense when starting a colony from nothing on the barren planet of RimWorld.

Tools Mod
-While writing the idea for the primitive start mod I thought it would be cool if survivors needed tools for building/mining resources.
-Add a slot to add a tool that a survivor needs to do certain tasks like building and mining.
-Tools could also be used as melee weapons and could even use the same slot melee weapons.
-ie Hammer: used for building and adds +1 to melee
-ie Spear: used for hunting and adds +4 to melee

That is all for now. This game is awesome and mods like these would sure make it way more interesting than it already is! Anyone who is good at making mods, feel free to take any ideas here for your own mods. Anyone who wants to work on these, please post. I'd like to see the Melee/Armor/Tools Mods, Animal Farm Mod, and Seasons Mod in that order more than anything. If you have any ideas to add, please comment. If you know of any mods similar to the ideas above that are already being worked on, please comment.

Thanks
