Stories / Re: Casket of treasures

I had a similar event on one of my first colony, had a giant building in the center of the map and decided to send my colonists to make that their starting base... (I didn't know they contained mechs) I ignored the warning and a centipede and two scythers proceded to rip my colonists apart.

On my current colony I had two mechanoid buildings, the first one I opened far away from my base with 1 scyther and two centipedes, my colonists fled but the mechanooids stayed guarding that area. They even took out the better portion of three raids and two group of visiting tribals. The second one was right next to my base, I opened it up when I had a massive group of visitors that bravely defended my colonists from the mechanoids until all that was left was a severly damaged centipede. No causulties (for me, the visitors lost about 2/3 of their people). As of now I haven't opened the caskets yet.

Stories / Re: Turtles from Hell!

I've had two attacks by turtles, one that actualy helped. First one I had three colonists opining Fire on it for I don't know how long, until I got sick of it, shot a nearby boomrat, and let the fire kill it. The second one attacked a group of commandos (glitter tech mod) that were swinging my base. They opened fire with weapons that caused fires (the fires killed one commando and burned several), and at the same time my mortar got an amazing shot that detonated half their ammo killing/incapacitating 2 of them. The turtle took at least two dozen shots (while on fire) before it went down. Combined with the mortar shot, that turtle caused the faliure of a seige camp that otherwise would of destroyed my base.

you could cool your living areas and face the exhaust into your mine shafts if you have them around your base and they are large enough to absorb the heat.
Wouldent that cause the mine shafts to heat up? (Heat only goes away if connected to the outside or by use of a cooler right?) I could easily be wrong though. I'll try that out sometime tomorrow.

This is my first "Funny" moment I've had so far.

Earlier today, I got two visitors. When they were leaving a squirrel went
berserk and attacked them, the first visitor went to attack the squirrel with a club. After one hit that slowed the squirrel significantly, he was shot in the back twice by his friend incapacitating him. For the next 20 or so seconds the second visitor sat shooting everything but the squirrel that was limping towards her. Eventually, she acidently shot a boomrat next to the squirrel killing the squirrel, a wild boar, her incapacitated freind, and nearly taking out one of my buildings.

General Discussion / Cooling mountain bases

I'm making my current colony inside a mountain, but I dont know how to cool it without creating a weak point in my base. Does anyone have any ways to cool a mountain base without putting a cooler in the outer wall?
