Does xpathing using set name delete the attribute of the node being modified?

I am patching a mod that uses thingDef instead of ThingDef in certain places and i need it to use the other one, i tried this:
<li Class="PatchOperationSetName">
<xpath>Defs/thingDef[defName="ExampleDef"]</xpath>
<name>ThingDef</name>
</li>


But it failed

I changed the defName by using more than one identifier in the xpath

About the creator of Rimsenal not wanting a CE patch... hopefully he wont ask it to be taken down once its up

Im trying to patch CE and Rimsenal Enchanced Vanilla Pack but out of pure coincidence the tactical vest and the tactical armor vest from the mods have the same defName Apparel_TacVest

I tried changing the defname by doing this:
<li Class="PatchOperationReplace">
<xpath>Defs/ThingDef[defName="Apparel_TacVest"]</xpath>
        <value>
<defName>Apparel_TacArmor</defName>
</value>
</li>


But it replaces both defNames taking me back to square one, how do i replace only one of the defs?

i think the xpath is wrong, it should be

<xpath>Defs/ThingDef[defName = "Gun_Revolver"]/Properties</xpath>

just wondering what does the charge scatter shoot in CE?
did you add a new caliber or used an existing one?

So the  ChargeBack battery (normal and proto) produce energy when energy is being consumed from them?

Saves the hassle of making a new area, waiting for a boomalope to go into it and then shooting it from afar so your colony doesn't burn down, nice.

0-2 Archotech cannon or whatever you feel like calling it

3-5 Damaged Vanometric Cells, outputting half the power

Sparkling worlds has an event similar to that, a ship crash with an ambushing enemy faction lookin for loot so maybe u can ask the author for help.
