Have you tried to change the behavior of the pawn when he gets attacked?
It can be: flee. Ignore. Attack
You can set this in the winow for the pawn ... on the right side
the little pic wit a running man stands for flee just click on it to change it.
In one of the Tabs you can change the behavior too.

Alenerel have you tried to create your own Scenario already? There you can set with how many pawns you Start.

Wild Berries are still there you only have to search for them.

Are you sure that the job the pawn is doing is hauling so take items and bring them to storage areas.
Or could it be that he is hauling Material needed for building to the workingplace. This is then no hauling job per se. Best is then to think of it as fetching material ☺for building/cooking
