I should probably mention first that I have cleared it with Tynan and he says I 'should' be good posting this here.  :D

I have been working on SpaceSlog for a while now, albeit mostly in my spare time and wanted to post about it here, where it all began. You will probably notice the game is heavily inspired by Rimworld but there are many differences.

- SpaceSlog is set in space and you must build and expand your ship, rather than a colony on a planet.
- I want to explore the ramifications of being couped up in a tin can and the effects this would have on a person.
- I plan to encourage exploration with opportunities to send away teams to planets, derelict ships or stations. This will be required to scavenge for supplies if needed.
- Different planets will require different equipment for your pawns. Various traits will probably effect how they react on these planets.
- There will be ship to ship combat, boarding, hull breaches, atmosphere and all that good stuff.

Note: Pawns may still get pissed eating without a table!

We have a Steam page you can check out

Or an Epic Games Store page.

Please feel free to ask any questions. Suggestions and feedback are also definitely welcomed.

You cannot view this attachment.

If anyone is interested we released our 3rd devlog video the other day where you can see more about the game.

What? This is a game not a real life simulator. Games are often used as a form of escapeism. Not everyone wants something in a game just because its part of modern society. At least give us an option if we want all our colonists to turn into raving homosexuals :).

Carrying on from a previous suggestion a couple of posts back. It would be cool if we could research a computer terminal, that would allow us remote control of anything on the 'grid' if a person is operating it. Or you could make it so two poeple have to operate it.

Well you made the right choice. Star command looks promising but is just a tech demo atm. I played for five mins of alpha 2 and realised you can do bugger all. Ill go back in a few months time i guess.

Something else to take note of.

When colonists are inside a spacious interior, they recieve a +5 to happyness. Yet when out in the open air with the wind blowing through their hair and fields as far as the eye can see.... Nothing.

You already get a natural feel good factor from the sun through vitamin D, plus other factors i wont go into. The only reason i can think you would be happier inside an interior is if there was a hurricane or your colony was freezing over.

I mean no offense, but might I then suggest you to read whole thread? This has come up a number of times and variations.

By not reading we just bloat a topic with repeated suggestions (like the littered cheapest ideas thread), while if you read, even if you have a similar idea, you might reach a new one from the exchange.

It makes no difference if ive read the whole thread or not, i would have still re-iterated what i said to show my support for said suggestion.
The reason i stated i had not read the whole thread was just incase someone else had infact stated the same and i hadnt acknowledged them.

Another point i would like to bring forward, people have to mine. Whether they want a cave base or not, they still need steel etc from mines. This makes cave bases even easier and a more viable option. Another reason imo why mining needs to be nerfed or needs some boundaries.

I havnt read the whole thread, because I havnt the time to do so :).

But my input, I believe creating cave bases should cost a whole lot more than they do. Building into a mountain would take a huge amount of work even by todays standards, let alone some random guys with pick axes!!

If you only have pick axes, maybe they should only allow you to mine a certain amount of blocks into the mountain, to get deeper you would need some heavier machinery, some supports etc.

How many people die from mining even today in this day and age?? Its a very hazardous job. Mining in Rimworld is not realistic, and that's why its too easy to build a mountain base.

Yeah either crafting of ammunition would need to be implemented but i would prefer only either being able to get them from fallen raiders or bought from the combat supplier.

Ideas / Re: less random please
January 30, 2014, 11:30:02 PM
Maybe this should be added to randy random (which is all i play btw). I prefer total randomness then seeing how you cope with it, isnt that the while point of rimworld? :).

Besides most things in life are pretty random and out of our control, so it makes it more realistic which for me makes it more fun and challenging. Hence why i only play randy ransom.

This i think is one of the reasons we need ammunition. Doesnt have to be anything fancy just a way to record how much you can shoot.

Its always fun having to compromise, let your best shooter use the gun with the least ammo, adds more layers of tactics. Do you attack head on and gain yourself some ammo from the dead pirates or do you let them deplete their ammo then pick them off easy but then loose the opportunity to gain ammo.

Would also add to the game when Tynan adds bows and arrows :).
