Hi dismar! Your veg garden has become a fundamental requirement for my enjoyment of Rimworld. Thank you for your work! <3 I have an additional crop suggestion. (I hope I haven't suggested it before, but I can't remember.) In Real Lifeā„¢, almond milk is another common vegan milk variety and vegan cheeses are often made from tree nuts. I feel like almonds would make a good addition, since a tree-based option for milk/cheese production feels sufficiently different from beans to add another flavor to the world. :)

This is an interesting idea. :) Any mood reaction should be modified by traits, of course. But I imagine it would be a bit different than butchering. For example:
Prosthophobe - more positive/less negative than others, since it is an alternative to prosthetics.
Prosthophile - the opposite, since it effectively preempts an excuse to seek bionics.

It seems like you could get away with it covering only the things that Penoxycycline doesn't. While it's not as convenient, having two drugs working on concert would feel more plausible to me than a miracle cure. In fact, if it was a focused anti-parasite/mechanite drug, then that would make a lot of sense, thematically. Then the remaining flu and infections could be covered by an advanced Penoxycycline variant, perhaps named Veroxycycline? (My cursory dictionary research indicates that "pen-" means "almost", whereas "ver-" means "true". Probably a very rough attempt though...) Then the cost could be split between the upgrade recipe and Nanitride. I don't know why complicating things like this appeals to me... But that's how my brain works. :)

In terms of compatibility, would it be possible to make mead from Apini honey?

With that in mind, I'm open for suggestions to improve the recipe in regards to balance and/or lore.
Personally, I'd rather have 2-3 of only a few drugs going into it rather than one of everything. Otherwise you get cluttered job bills and stockpiles which... bother me, perhaps irrationally. How about this:

1 devil's dust + 2 wakeup + 2 yayo + 2 gojuice + 1 medicine + 5 mechanites = 1 luciferium

Since yayo is basically a more potent version of flake - with the same effects, only more powerful and addictive - it doesn't make much sense in terms of lore to use both. Penoxycycline is only for staving off disease, so I'm not seeing how it helps to moderate the effects of the other drugs. Requiring a little more of the remaining drugs would perhaps keep the work and monetary cost from dipping too much.

Hiya, dismar! Have you considered including a few leafy vegetables? (Romaine lettuce, red cabbage, and spinach perhaps.) I noticed you have a simple salad, which might go well with those. Could expand the selection of salads. Something like "leafy salad" (simple - only leafy veggies), "tossed salad" (fine - leafy and other veggies plus cheese), "chef salad" (lavish - leafy and other veggies, plus cheese, egg and/or meat). :)

*Fewer hives. Hives are discrete objects, so you would have a distinct number of them. The word "fewer" applies best to this situation. The change would soothe my sensibilities, if you are feeling kind.

Query: Would it be possible/feasible to have specific medical items be more effective at treating specific ailments? (eg. aloe for burns, bandages for things needing bandaged, medkits for sutures and set bones, etc.) I noticed you can anesthetize for surgery using aloe... which is convenient, but a tad awkward.

Bug Report: When a caffeine addiction goes unsatisfied, the mood effect in the Needs panel shows up as alcohol.

A few ideas for if/when you expand this:
Have each religion be a trait attached to a pawn. Some have religion, some don't, and beliefs vary. The traits would affect socializing - believers of rival religions may not get along, believers in the same or friendly religions will do well together. Pawns may convert when socializing with others, altering any existing religion trait - this may be more likely with lovers or spouses.

It would be interesting to see how this sort of scenario plays out. Providing various shrines for diverse beliefs; seeing conflicts, reconciliation, and realignments occurring throughout a colony! Ah, but what do you think?

I have a cautionary tale to share. A fresh colony of mine was visited by a tribal trader. While browsing his wares, I noticed a vancidium spear worth some 63,000 silver. Since the trader was unescorted and I was unscrupulous, I killed him. Shortly thereafter, a raid arrived with far more firepower than I would have expected. I had completely forgotten that the increased wealth would factor into random events. My greed blinded me. The moral of the story: don't steal more than you can defend. ;)

I'll be trying out this mod shortly. :) It looks fantastic.

Minor corrections:
1. You didn't list coffee beans under other new crops for cooking?
2. You also had a typo, "flaw flowers" instead of flax under Grow Textiles.
