Make sure you're using "1.3-latest - Old version", which is 1.3.3389.
If you used the "1.3.3287 - Previous 1.3 version", well, you're not alone.

Yeah the chick digging through a mountain is very silly. It's basically meant to prevent "I'm building a wall around your pack muffalo and wait for it to go unconscious and drop all of its things." tactic.
What probably happened was that a trader from another faction with chickens visited and a chicken plopped down a fertilized egg, which then hatched into a chick belonging to the other faction.
For some reason that chick decided that it was trapped. Perhaps it couldn't path to the trader, which was probably off the map already. Trapped friendlies immediately start digging themselves out to exit the map.

I have not had that in 1.4, but looking at logs I have had 6 cases of signal 11 in 780 logs, all in 1.3 early versions.
Usually it was when the RimWorld window lost focus right after starting. I always play in windowed mode.
Mods loading is threaded now, so there may be extra interesting things happening.

You have done the tutorial and read the learning helper notes?
As long as your colonist isn't incapacitated or having a mental break, you can select the colonist, right-click on things to priorize actions or you can draft them to make them move, shoot or melee for example. Expect them to do dumb stuff unsupervised.
My recommendation is that you watch some tutorials / let's plays on Youtube to get some idea on how the game works.

Blame Steam's recommended prices. Tynan fixed some of them, but he can't know the economic situation of every country.

Reverting to 1.3.3287 does exactly what it says on the tin.
You want the 1.3-latest for 1.3.3389.

What version is this? It was fixed in 1.4.3515, 8 days ago. The latest version is 1.4.3523.

1.3.3200 is getting close to its one-year anniversary. There have been at least four releases since. Update your game.

You skipped step 6, the log file.
I bet it's the usual issue, 1.3 scenario files.
Delete all scenario files (.rsc) from previous versions.
1.4.3520 is out so you should update.

Hmmh. Well. Adding it to Steam command line should work. Maybe if you use '/'s instead of '\'s.
I don't use Windows or Steam so I can't test it. Works just fine on Linux.

The Linux mouse bug has been... Diminished? But not completely fixed by the Steam Deck launch as many things had to be tweaked for it, but the drug policy screen with many sliders per policy is bad enough that I edit the save to get the values I want.
Tooltips work just fine in 1.3.3387 for me without mods. I haven't noticed issues with mods, but I have never ran more than 100 mods and don't actually play much nowadays.

Haven't tried 1.4 yet. I actually was a tester for a little while, but you guys forgot to mention that you only distribute test builds by Steam so that was a bust.
