Ideas / Re: A18

_ I just want some " politics " and religious / cult in Rimworld, like vote for captain / leader/ majour,  or choice start a cult in your colony etc. Those will give us more tool to manage mood of people, and more events to handle.

General Discussion / Re: Animal farming viable?
June 27, 2017, 01:01:57 PM
_ You can use animal farming for many products in a post above. But honestly, if you want animals for stuff, you have to be sure several things : your people got enough foods to survive, you got enough foods for your animals ( meats, hay grass, kibble etc ) you pick the right animal for right products you want ( milk, meat, chicken nuggets, wool, leather, even haulers, fighters, mule animals etc ) and the last : you need to build a certain temp environment for those animals to survive. Many animals have very limited range of temp, too cold they will freeze to death, too hot they will go insane.

_ I personally always grow some kind of animal for meats because i mostly play in pretty hard biome where you can not hunt much wild animals. My favourites are chicken ( of course ) cow ( milk ) alpaca / muffalo ( wool ) and raiders ( meat, leather )

_ In " easy " biome it's fine to recruit as many as you can because you got enough foods to feed them all. In harsh biome or hard story mode, you will want to be picky in recruitment, because elite pawns not only lower raid size in early game, which means you got better change to survive, but also you need less foods to feed people, spend more time and resources to build defensive system and equip your soldiers.

_ I personally always only recruit elite pawns only, who must have certain shooting / melee skills, capable of at least 2 main jobs with passion, no bad traits, healthy and of course can do anything. And i especially welcome cannibalism, psychopath ( psycopath cook is the best ), iron-will or sanguine who will stand strong whatever situation, hardwork is also welcome but no really needed, greenthumb is ok if there is passion in growing, doctors are always good too, and pyromaniac is good material for a chair.

_ I believe it depends on how you play and what's design your base / defense system is. I myself use ratio 8 - 10:1, because i play kill box - mountain base, and i'm very strictly in recruitment, only elite pawn who capable of certain fighting and multi jobs could join. Because of that, i usually end up 3-4 melee fighters the rest is shooters. Best armors and bionic arms are usually for melee fighters then best shooters then normal pawns. And because i play perma death, i have to play very defensive and safety, kill enemies from range is the most safety way to play imo.

Hey guys- first post ever.

I love this game. It fulfills my love for survival, strategy, city building and RPG gameplay.

What's the best way to make a ton of money these days? It seems as if they leveled off smokeleaf and flake.

_ Honestly, i recommend you should not follow some business ways to make ton of money, i really really recommend you. Because if you just play like normal, slowly expand, gather stuff, make foods, recruit troops, make weapons and build your base regulary, you will not get much trouble in surviving unless playing in harsh biome or crazy story mode.

_ Otherwise, all sudden big influx of money and wealth come to your colony will lead to crazy bigger raids and mechanoids attacks. If you prepair enough and got a big percentage of wealth in weapons, turrets, armors and defend system, you will be fine but that's what a very good and experienced player will do, most of us - new players and even many long time player will not know that or just don't know how to do that. The result is tragedy, big raids vs weak defensive system and low equip troops who are protecting a huge pile of wealth that sit in storage for nothing. I learned very hard way that wealth management is as important as mood management, but not many players know that or they just shut their mouth and let us suffer while devilish laughing from far away :D

Want to hide your cash?

_ Lmao, i know this but ... i was thinking it's somekind of big exploit that will ruin the fun so i don't speak it out loud here, and i thought Tynan fixed it, or he didn't ? lol

General Discussion / Re: corporate spec laptop?

hi folks, any thoughts on being able to run this on a corporate spec laptop? Specifically:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz
8.00GB RAM
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family baked in I'd guess
Total available graphics memory 1696 MB
        Dedicated graphics memory 64 MB
        Dedicated system memory 0 MB
        Shared system memory 1632 MB
Direct X11

_ My old laptop is the same spec, but only 6 GB of RAM. Before the XPS 15 i'm using, i used that laptop to play Rimworld. If you keep the map default size ( medium ) or smaller, and pawns less than 30 you are fine, and don't feed animals more than the number of your pawn, prefer less than 10 and you should be ok. And design of the base, how you manage your stock, freezer, hallway are big factors because pawns use CPU resources to search and path finding.

_ My prisoners all live in a big cell, with some beds, but not enough for all, some have a bed to sleep, some not and have to use temp bed on the floor. They go berserk frequently and who won will got the bed, else come to the floor. Many died in fighting AND hunger, even i feed them kibble. Those are made from their inmates, and their tribal members, sometimes their relatives, husband, wife, childrens, mothers, brothers, sisters who died in my killbox or die fighting each others in that hell pit. Grass always there, but corpses you don't frequently have, so each one give up means others meal and hope for tomorrow, we all fight for that right ?

General Discussion / Re: Randy is bit broken?

Quote from: Thraxon on June 13, 2017, 12:26:21 PM
I am playing as randy extreme and it looks like its a bit broken in a17.

I have 2 ennemies factions
Sometime i haven't raid for year (witch is anormal ).
And when raid, poison ship open or whatever finnaly comes, one minute after, a 2nd raid is coming while the first one isn't even done.

This happended to me 3 times . Someone else noticed that?

I know randy isn't really random, but actually its the only real challenge for me because of the size of the raids and the max size of colonist.
But this is boring, 0 raid for years, and all a sudden, you have to deal with a siege, and 40 tribals at the same time.

I could use a more customisable difficulty, a more random Randy,a more difficult constant raiding, and a max colonist depending on something else (reasearch, time, wealth...)

_ It's exactly what you will see when playing with Randy, his surname is Random, you know. You can have a year without Any events, nothing, then in several days a bunch of bad and good events also happens. In alpha 16 i've had exactly 1 year and a season there was nothing, then in 2 days i got 3 raids from 3 other factions, a poison ship, mega spiders, Zzzt twice and solar flare. Play in Randy Random mode i always, ALWAYS prepair for the worst, ready everything you got, always in danger mode or you failed.

_ I usually very selective in recruit people, if some "useless " people join my colony, i just arrest them, put them to a prison outside my base, with door opened, then they just "prison break " and go away in peace. I sometime recruit non-violent people because they got great talents beside fighting, for that people i usually let them wear power armor set, energy shield and ... lead the charge, or just use them to repair turrets, rescue wounded people etc.  The last thing i want to do is haverst their organs or selling them as slaves lol

Anyone Tired Of RimWorld?
Why Not Another Game? Anyone?
Suggestions:
1)Make It The Same As Rimworld But A 3D One (I Know Seems To Much..)
2)Make It You Can Travel To Other Worlds..
3)Make It That You Can Build By Needing A Bunch Of Tools Such As Hammers,Pliers ETC.

Thats All I Can Think... May Be Suggest In The Comments For More  ;D ;D

_ I'm not tired of Rimworld because i play perma death, mistakes mean loss and deaths.

Hi everyone with A17 coming soon I finally finished my 2nd major colony and wanted to show it off to all you good people as it was my first ever Tribal Run.

Northern Section of the base
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=926231363

Southern Section of the base
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=926231396

Colony Jail Cells that are capable of holding up to 18 prisoners.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=926231431

Colony Housing. I decided to go with matching houses to make things look pleasant. The large house in the North-East is the Mayors house (my characters) which were where our communication systems are set up as well as the newly made tomb system.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=926231459

Colonies Hospital. Not much to say about it other than it is capable of managing any injuries thanks to our hefty supply of medical equipment.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=926231497

Colonies Community Center - The main center of the Colony where people eat, prep food, get drunk etc. It took a good 2 years to build (due to it burning down during construction. But now that it is finally finished it has anything our settlement needs.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=926231529

Simple Visitors center + Armory
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=926231564

Defensive Line - The Colonies Main Defensive Line we have defense checkpoints established around the map depending on where the raids arrive but this is our last line of defense.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=926231602

So what do you guys think about the colony?

1. I know it is all made out of wood. I planned it this way so I wont be changing it to metal/stone :D

_ Your base is too big, i just check the hospital but it's soo big and inefficient, but it's ok as you are playing in easy biome ( imo, a biome where you can grow crops en masses outdoor then it's easy biome ) I think you should try something harder, for example : ice sheet -20 C in summer, Cassandra extreme, perma death ? The way we play in easy biome is much much much different than when we play in harsh biome. Good luck.

I heard Cassandra trys to limits the amount of colonist you have.

Cassandra and Phoebe both have the same, much lower target number of colonists. Forget the actual range numbers.

_ 12 or 15 or a number lower than 20 i believe, Randy is 50 ...
