Had crashes when i was using Arch and Manjaro(Arch fork) so it's not that. I don't have windows installed and prefer not to unless strictly necessary. So i can kind of have to live with the random kills until a solution pops up somewhere. Principles can be a bitch.

It's ok. I have been looking in several similar crashes for months now and have not found a single shred of info that was of any help. It only occured to me that it was possibly a linux/hardware conflict after i posted my last reply.

~/var/log/syslog only has reports about dhpc leases.
/home/Bas/.xsession-errors does not report anything remotely regarding the crashes either, only some GTK errors when i run Iceweasel or Darktable.
~/var/log/Xorg.0.log stops logging after X has been started.

Am i looking the wrong direction? As far as i know XFCE logs errors in ~var/log/ and ~/home/[user]/Xsession-errors.

It might be the laptop though.... I don't do a lot of heavy applications. The only game other than RW are Gnomoria and Terraria in the last month, both get killed too. Even Iceweasel, Darktable and Thunar are getting killed every now and then. Darktable a bit more then i find entertaining tbh. It does not seem to matter how long i am working on it though, so i don't think it's a a temperture thing.

Support / Re: Rimworld install help on Ubuntu Linux

It may sound stupid but are you certain you downloaded the linux version?
I don't even run the script. Just mark the bin file for your distro/cpu(.x86 or .X86_64)executable and run the file. If that fails run it from terminal and see what is reported back.

It's a pavillion, yes. My experience is that what shows up in terminal is what is writen to application's logs. I have not looked in Debian/XFCE logs though.

This what happens in terminal after launching RW:

[bas@debian RimWorld914Linux]$ ./RimWorld914Linux.x86_64
Set current directory to /home/bas/Games/RimWorld914Linux
Found path: /home/bas/Games/RimWorld914Linux/RimWorld914Linux.x86_64

After a crash the only line added is "Aborted"

Ever since i started playing again last week, RW A12 crashes on a regular basis. When i run it from a terminal all it reports back is "aborted". No detailed report, nothing. I have not been able to find a single clue on what happened before a crash since it seems to be completley random and it is becoming quite annoying, at least it has regular autosaves.....

I'm running Debian 8 on a HP DV6
I5-430M
Nvidia G 105M(Nvidia drivers)
4Gb RAM

That looks promising. Actually read rumors, on reddit i think, that Tynan was slowly giving up on the game. It sounded highly unlikely though.
I played Terraria and Gnomoria in the last few months but the urge to go back to the rim was too strong :p

I started playing Rimworld after a 1.5 year hiatus. Back then you made a colony, dug in and made a dining room and a paste dispenser and started cranking up waffles defenses to keep out raiders and mad muffalos and that was about it.
After starting a few days ago i felt like a complete tool, so many new features, workshops and furniture. The game is so much more dynamic, great work Tynan!

As mentioned by Nnescio earlier;

<7 walkable tiles: Very cramped (-10 happiness)
<27 walkable tiles: Cramped (-5 happiness)

So, the minimum room size is 7x4 (interior dimensions), with room for one flower pot, or 6x5, with room for three flower pots (or one flower pot and one equipment rack).

Yeah, there are some funky contradictions in the games character rolling. I'm sure they'll be worked out somewhere down the line.

Galileus; That pizza sounds great! You could even up the awesome-sauce(pun intended) level of the pizza by putting stuff on the second layer!

Like W1Z23 i was having fun with a chainsaw too last Saturday, clearing the remnants of last months storm. Two trees fell on the caravan of a acquaintance and they had to be cleared. With tension on both trees and the caravan, care was required to prevent more damage. Quite a bit of work but he was thankfull. Should have charged him ::)

Paved tile for outside areas. Metal tiles for the armory, general hallways and utility rooms.
Blue carpet for the hallways in the bedroom section, with green or red for the bedrooms including the prison. Green is also for growing pot.... uh food.
Sometimes i use carpet to write a message for the raiders on the pavement :)

The influence of feeling cramped doesn't seem to have a really big impact in the long run.
I usually give them 3x3 rooms until everything is up and running nicely and there is a nice stash of metal, then give them bigger rooms. 5x6 works.

The folks behind Stasis released a alpha demo! It's quite good.
The start has a Myst-ish feel. Waking up in a foreign place, having to find out where you are and what happened. The graphics and sound effects create a great eerie atmosphere and the story starts of nice and vague.

LISA looks a bit weird. I like weird, definitely gonna grab the demo when i get home.
QuoteLisa is a side-scrolling PC ONLY RPG set in a post apocalyptic wasteland where women are nowhere to be found. It's a world full of drugs, violence and the decay of human intelligence...
Sounds like a great game. And the midi-music, oh the joy. :)
You can even get a character with a line of text haha

Scraps defintely looks fun too. The video is hilarious :)
Gonna keep an eye on this one.

Hell yeah! Warhammer  8)
Probably one of the most badass melee weapons in the history of gaming

Bu-But... what about gun chainsaws? :(

Chainsaws are awesome too, but combined with a big sword =win
