Stories / Best Colony Ending Disaster Stories
April 11, 2017, 01:26:19 AM
I want to hear others most disastrous colony ending stories! I'll start off with one of mine.
Playing with randy random on intense. Had a pretty decent colony running with about 10 colonists and constantly growing. All have really good stats and have most basic buildings set up (houses, dining area, freezer, jail, etc.) but don't have the greatest supply of medicine yet. Anyway we got attacked by mechanoids and a lot of my settlers got injured with one even losing a leg. Doc goes and starts healing them until we only have herbal medicine. Randy decides that I didn't have it hard enough and hits my guys recovering from their wounds with the plague. The worst part of this is that the only colonists that didn't have the plague all were pacifists and wouldn't fight or hunt. Out of medicine, I attempted to try and buy some however all of the roaming traders that came didn't have medicine and I didn't have a beacon to call a caravan. Then, like the dickbag he is, Randy hits me with a man hunter pack of rhinos. All non-plague ridden colonists are killed, several buildings were destroyed and right after they leave all of my colonists died of plague except for one, Jerry. Jerry survived just long enough for a caravan randomly arrive. Yet again, this caravan had no medicine and right after closing the trade interface, Jerry died.
RIP Jerry you will be missed.

Have you thought about making fallout buildings at all? (IE. fusion generators, vault themed structures/furniture, etc.) Was just thinking about this the other day and thought it might be a cool idea if it were something you'd be able to pull off.
Great mod, can't wait until next update! Cheers

Ideas / Re: Ideas for vehicles to implement once vehicles are introduced into the game.

These are all great ideas. Especially about implementing boats. As of now you can't really do much with the water tiles so boats would be pretty sweet. That would also lead the way for being able to have island colonies which would be sweet.

General Discussion / Re: Strip (and sell) dead man's clothes?

I'd say it is probably worth doing early game but not late-mid or late game. The small monetary boost that selling the clothes gives you can help if you run short on small things to keep a new colony alive.
