Creative Rewards / Kickstarter rewards
July 31, 2015, 03:10:16 PM
I finally got around to signing up for the creative rewards site but it says I have no rewards. I signed up with the same username as here, with the email on my kickstarter account (which apparently isn't the email I used to sign up for the forum here). Can I still get that applied to my account? Sorry about putting this off for so long...

What exactly does this entail? Accepting/rejecting backstory submissions, or editing to make a more consistent universe? My skills may be more geared toward the latter...

1. What is your writing experience?
Nonprofessional, but I've been writing semi-seriously for at least ten years (since ~high school). Most of my work has been short stories, but I have done NaNoWriMo a few times and succeeded twice. I've been trying to sell some of my more recent stories for publication, but at the moment I'm not professionally published. I'll send you a link to a flash fiction piece or two by email.

2. Why do you want to help out?
I like contributing creatively to projects that I enjoy. It's one reason I was enticed to contribute to the kickstarter more than I would have otherwise paid for the game.

3. How much are you available to help out?
It depends on the work (see my question above). I have a day job so mostly I only have nights and weekends open but I'm on IRC pretty much always so if any moderator discussion takes place there I can chime in almost any time.

Creative Rewards / Re: Ship and planet name ideas
November 01, 2013, 09:02:25 PM
Given that no one grabbed the ship and planet name tiers, I like the idea to generate them based on initial conditions.

I still would like the name to foreshadow the crash in some way.  Maybe I should look up the name of Amelia Earhart's plane.

What falls better to the earth than an angel? So how about the HMS Fallen Angel

I disagree with the reasoning here. For a consistent world, the ship probably wouldn't have been named something that foreshadows its demise; how would the namers have known?

Note also that it might not even be a realistically interesting name. Most commercial airlines don't name their planes today (as far as I know) aside from serial numbers and general body type classifications like "737-800".
