Regardless if the dude didn't read the original post update, there's no reason to be an ass.

The top posting is updated with the latest news.

Oh what I would give for even a month vacation.  I have been working at my current job for 14 years, and the longest vacation I have had was two weeks.

I know nobody cares, but I guess I'm just jealous or something.  There is no way in heck I could ever take six months off work.  Well, there is, but my wife had better get a hefty bonus or something.

Rimworld is fantastic, so we take what we can get, and I can't wait to see what's around the corner whenever Tynan starts working again.

Not at all.  You get every new build until the game goes final, and also every update to the main game after that.

The number of downloads is per build.  It will reset at each new build.

Enjoy!

Thanks guys.  The e-mail I have is from August 13.  I guess I deleted the October one.

Anyway, good to know I have the latest version.

General Discussion / What is the latest version?

The last e-mail I have received for an update to this game was August 13.  It was version 0.7.584 rev40946.

Is this the latest version?  If not, I am no longer getting e-mail updates and would like to make sure I continue to get them when new versions come out.

Also - I don't see anywhere on this forum that shows what the current version of the game is.  Is this posted somewhere?  It would sure be helpful.

Thanks!

That makes sense, Tynan, and is what I suspected.  I just thought I'd ask.  The last thing you need to be doing is freaking out over hot fixes.

I am not trying to be argumentative or mean or anything, but we paid for access to an alpha game.  Why don't you just release what you think is a completed alpha version to everyone?  You will get tons of testers, and will be told by many if there are any problems.

Are you just not interested in doing hotfixes to alpha versions?  Again, I'm just curious about your release process.  Some developers will release builds daily (Arcen, for example), while others have a rigid monthly schedule.  If you think you have a candidate, why not let us play it?

Nice!  Now I want to try that out, too!

With my S.O., not yours.  :o)

Thanks everyone!  Very helpful.  So, is there a reason all those items start as forbidden?  Why would I ever want to forbid anything, since it seems like first thing you do when you start a new game is to unforbid everything.

More newbie questions to come, as I play and learn this fun game.

Thanks.  Then why do all those items start the game as forbidden?  I don't understand.

I did build the batteries.  My question was do I need to run a power conduit line from the batteries to what I want to power?  Or do I just build them adjacent to the solar panels?  Also, I had batteries, but my cooking stove still powered down at night.  I was not sure why it did this.

General Discussion / Super noob questions
June 15, 2014, 08:52:50 PM
I am brand new, and it will become obvious with all the questions I will post to this thread.  Starting with:

1. Why are all the supplies forbidden when I first land?  Am I supposed to unforbid them, so my guys can use them?  Or, is there a reason to keep them forbidden?  And, generally, why would I want to forbid something?

2. A couple visitors arrived, and walked around my camp.  One was a trader, the other a warrior or something like that.  How do I interact with these visitors?  I could not figure out how to do anything with them.  They walked around for a while, then left without doing anything.

3.  I built a solar panel, connected the power conduit to my room, and built a cooking stove.  At night, I saw that all my power was gone, and the cooking table was not powered.  So, I figured I had to build some batteries to store power for overnight and rainy days.  I built two batteries adjacent to the solar panel.  Do I have to also run a power conduit to my building for them to work?  I did that, but the cooking table still lost power at night.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

If you buy any Arcen Games game, there is an excellent chance the owner and main developer will answer your questions.

Thanks absentminded!  I'm in.

I asked this in change log thread, but I thought I would bring the question out to the main forum.

So, as a new player should I get the game now, or wait for the next build?  I keep reading that it has become too difficult with the overpowering raids.  Is it super unbalanced right now, or is it still fun and very playable?
