the first problem of this game is that it is reasonably not worth playing without at least 150 mods

You started by stating a very subjective opinion as fact, thereby losing any credibility in the whole message (and making it sound arrogant and disrespectful as a bonus).

Why everyone here is a liar ? Strange fact.

Then you label disagreeing opinions as lies. No wonder the entities are scolding you...

I'd love it if the entire "tainted" system vanished and whenever anybody died, everything they were carrying lost 50% (or so) hit points, coupled with this idea that number of hit points actually matter.
Agreed.  Although I think it should just applied to worn apparel, not their inventory.  After all, whatever they were wearing probably got a bunch of bullet holes in it (or torn up or blood on it or maybe the pawn simply peed himself...)
How about losing the hit points when receiving the bullets then, instead of when dying? Clothing could lose quality proportionally to the wound severity and armor status. That way, the clothes from a downed pawn just about to die would be as useless as a dead one's, removing the "strip the guy before he dies" trick.

For my next colony, I'm seriously considering making a corpses stockpile outside my walls shaped to spell "Hi Francis!"

+1, this is something that definitely belongs in vanilla.
In the meantime, check the "CleaningArea" mod, it does exactly that.

Ideas / Re: Use shelf to "protect" food

Wouldn't that also prevent pooches from hauling crops to storage?  Frankly I will gladly let them graze if they schlep stuff for me.

Could be, depending on how it's implemented; the cheapest way would be denying access to the shelf to the animals, which would prevent hauling. Allowing them to haul to a shelf but not eating food from it would be more complicated, but doable (the whole 'putting the food out of animal's reach' wouldn't make a lot of sense if they are hauling to the shelf, but it's gameplay that matters in the end).

Ideas / Use shelf to "protect" food
September 06, 2018, 06:15:35 AM
Just a simple idea that came to my mind to make shelves a bit more interesting. So far their uses are to remove beauty penalty and outdoors deterioration. My idea is, it could be useful if food that's stored in a shelf couldn't be eaten by animals. It makes sense, since you are raising your food so your dogs won't eat anything lying on the floor, and could be useful for instance to store packaged meals for caravans relatively closer to the animal's beds without fear that they'll use them for breakfast. It could also protect chicken eggs from being eaten by other animals, now that I think about it...

Do you mean the "Shit Rimworld says" reddit?

Those are really interesting, I would love to see more interesting things on the mind of the colonists, specially in regards to Rimworld specific situations like that.

If you take it one step further, you could have a colonist angry because you have serum in your stockpiles and you are not using it on his/her dead spouse.... or even better "Did you really resurrect THAT idiot instead of my husband?"
It brings to mind something I usually think with prosthetics: A colonist thinking "What the %&%$ are we saving that bionic leg for, while I have to keep using this piece of wood?"

Of course, I don't think the complexity of having your pawns aware of the inventory just for buffs/debuffs is worth it. But wouldn't it be fun?

Ideas / Re: Trading centre

Of course, the added danger of a raid is realistic within the game lore, but a quick and easy implementation would be not to generate a map for the event and just use the same trading interface used with friendly outposts. So the event could basically be a temporary trading settlement with more inventory and silver than usual.

Ideas / Re: more naming variety

How come I never noticed the galician names, being myself from the north of Spain??

Please, please, Tynan, add some basque names (and stereotypes) to the mix, it would really make my day to find a colonist named "Txuletón", "Txacolí" or "Txistorra"!!

19. Have a special "punishment prison" full of rotting corpses and skeletons, ugly and dirty, with red lights and nothing else but a paste dispenser, specially reserved for any enemy that DARES to kill any of my pawns?

this has good potential. imagine being able to buy instructional manuals that can help teach various skills without needing to use resources or land the same way that learning by practicing does?

I immediately thought about manuals. An interesting twist could be that they could increase skills by a significant amount, similar to neurotrainers, but with high production requirements: Long time to craft, and the pawn that makes a manual should have high intelectual level as well as high level in the skill the manual teaches. This should make it difficult enough to produce to keep it reasonably rare.

General Discussion / Re: Introduce yourself!
November 02, 2017, 12:16:54 PM
Hello everyone!

I realized I've been lurking on this forum for a while and never bothered to introduce myself, so here it goes:
I'm Eduardo from Spain, CG artist and animator, and lifelong player.

Quote-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
Youtube. I saw one of the trailers and inmediately attracted me to the game. I did played a bit with a pirated copy (I'm always suspicious of alphas), and a couple of days later bought it.

Quote-What's your favorite other game?

Hard to choose. I'm a big fan of visual narrative and storytelling, so a good single player, story heavy game wins my heart. For that part, I'm in love of Naughty Dog's work.

But of course, there is "The Secret of Monkey Island". And you can't compete with "The Secret of Monkey Island"!!

Quote-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

A big bowl of corn flakes, after you take the bowl, throw the corn flakes away, and have a coffee and a croissant instead.

General Discussion / Re: A18 Raids. Lots of Sappers?

It happened to me on A17. May have more to do with the base design? I went for a thick walled compound with the classic killbox (for mechanoids and thrumbos mainly)
