All those benefits in comparison to humans would not make them too much overpowered?

Did you watch the movies? Thats the reason why the humans feared the apes - because apes are literally overpowered humans.

The only thing that set humans from apes apart is how smart humans are, thus we can overpower stronger animals like lions or elephant or gorillas - because of our abilities to work with tools and create weapons to leverage on.

But the moment apes (like chimps, gorillas) can have the same brain power - then humans in comparison would be an inferior kind.

In the movie, still, the apes are like tribal age - thus they are unable to fight on par with human's military (in the 2nd movie, the apes attacked a human civilian colony, and won; not the military). In the 3rd movie, the lack of technology and weapons, means that the apes are no match against humans, despite the higher muscle strengths and ability to just live in the wild.

So yeah - apes will be more powerful than humans, but they would die all the same when met with iron bullets and lasers.

I have watched the two first, but a long time ago. Yeah, I agree with you now; but are you planning to add that intelligence malus in comparison to humans into the ape race, in a attempt to balance them? Maybe reducing global learning or research speed (maybe even social). Maybe lock them into a tech level below neolithic?

Would be nice to add to encourage players to get rid of all those dessicated raiders through the map. Maybe a merge with magic mod to add necromancy/conjuring path?

Have you ever played a game named Haven and Hearth? If not, It is a game that has a lot of, lets say, wilderness survival content. I think it would be worth to take a look and get some ideas.

Anyway, I was thinking about hauling carts, which may allow the colonist that "equips" it to take like 4 stacks of anything instead of 1 by the same time, rowboats or rafts that may allow faster travel on world map in water tiles (ATM I play at a rainforest that sucks walking). Well, you could merge with rainbeau fishing mod to add fishing rafts?

Speaking about water, I really think that feels ankward that sandbox-survival games often ignores the importance of water. Hydratation is way more important than nutrition, you know. I dont know if this suggestion will really fit on the main theme of your idea, but adding a meaning for water, even if its only for farming or cleaning, would be good. Also, make rain boost fertility while it is up or maybe even some days after it, like if it has flooded the farmland.

EDIT: Please, make sun-heated mud bricks or shallow water clay (for those playings on a flat extreme desert with a huge river and no building materials)
