I agree, some of the scenarios I play with has daily raids, the map gets a little laggy and ugly a few months because of the splattered blood everywhere

Mods / [Mod Idea] Political Rim
December 03, 2017, 10:25:45 AM
So politics in Rimworld isn't really explored that much, the concept of property is also not really defined, sure you can own a "bed" but why can't you own the room? As far as I understand, The towns in Rimworld are just small communes, where people share everything except their beds. Why can't colonists own the stove, or this area over here used for wood cutting, or this big mountain nobody ever touches? Sure in a colony of 3 to 5 people this would be kinda pointless, but what if this starts to happen when the colony reaches over 15 to 20 people? It would be interesting.

Also, when a pawn or feels extremely unfairly treated, there should be a "revolt" bar that will slowly fill up. Killing a pawn that is at the edge of revolt will cause other pawns to question whether they are really free and spreads the revolt effect. It certainly makes a lot of more sense than just mental breaking for a few days after being treated like dirt for years and heaving an odd +40 Catharsis mood boost.

Imagine the storytelling potential of this.

And also, a political compass for every pawn? Influenced by their situation? Which will then affect how the distribution of goods and land is done instead of the Ol' commune.

Just putting this out there, since I am in no position to mod.

Edit: I'll add what I think

So in the early days of the Colony, it would always be a commune, since resource is scarce and people are barely surviving. By early days of the Colony I mean 3-8 Colonists

In a mid-density colony, the resource distribution will be either debated by the colonists themselves (their political compass will influence the outcome) or selected by you. 8-15 colonists

All after that, the distribution method should evolve organically without the influence of the player.

So I want to lay out a few main distribution methods that might happen, if this mod ever gets made, that is.

Economically

1. Good ol' Commune. Everybody shares everything except their beds. They even sometimes share their beds. Far-left.
2. Safety net Ownership. Everybody shares most of the things, owning some land is allowed (it should be decided automatically? I know that would be hard to code), generic places like the dining room, the hallway, the main farm, the hospitals -- should be in public hands. Left of centre.
3. You can own that. Joy objects, Some rooms, you can own the kitchen, but you still can't own the farm or the medicine storage. Centre.
4. This is mine. You can own most of the farm. You can own that hospital. You can even own the dormant hive that's sitting quietly in the cave if you're interested in that for some reason. Centre-left.
5. I am the master. Anyone can own anything. Anybody who doesn't own anything will require permission from the owner to work there. And then some. Far-right.

Also, soon after the mid-game, policies should be decided by the colonists. Drug policies, clothing policies, it will be decided depending on what type of system the colonists want to employ, whether they decide it to be a direct democracy, Soviet representation, Elected representative democracy, or a monarchy. I know psychology <<kind-of>> does that, but not really. But really no hate on the psychology mod, I love in fact.

That's all :3
