Once again I beseech thee Ludeon Forum goers for your guidance in my time of need!

To cut to the chase I was getting sick of the medieval playthroughs I had been doing so I decided to go back to the basics and go through the hell of remaking my mod list to fit a more Rimworldy feel. So after a meagre 315+ mods, I was starting to get satisfied with my choices, and I was also
using RimSaves, anticipating that something would break and making "benchwarmer" save files just in case I need to go back and change things in the face of a game breakage.

As was expected, something doesn't work, but not in the way I anticipated. You see, Rimworld decides that the usual run of mods it should be accustomed to by now, will not work.... okay. Specifically, this issue had something to do with map load being broken, this is really interesting because I have never had this issue happen to me before in my 900+ hours of Rimworld. So now I would like to find out if this is a smaller issue, and it doesn't require me to sift through 300+ mods to see which one ticks. If you could help me with this at all, I will be glad to give you whatever info/materials you may need to see what might be the issue.

Thanks, and have fun?

It all began yesterday when I was playing my 295 mod *I might have a problem* playthrough, which surprisingly went rather smoothly all things considered. Usually there is a big problem that stops me from even being able to play some of the heavily modded playthroughs ive made in the past, but not this time. The only real issues i've had *which unfortunately I didn't take note of* were the occasional red text box notification, and the only real problem I remember having sometimes was when a caravan comes in and they don't leave, even after starving there for days.

So what has been happening is as the title suggests, all of my colonists are invisible, and so is the bottom hud. This happens every single time I start up the game. I have validated the cache to no avail, and I have restarted many times while trying to identify the source of the problem. The only things i've managed to deduce from multiple failed attempts at having a normal playthrough, is that when I go to a pawnless side of the map, the bottom hud returns. My minimap mod doesn't show any life on the map, nor does it display my colonists, but when I check the bottom hud options, it comes up in a shadowy black textbox usually. And I can only see the hud when I am not looking at the general location of a colonist, I figured this out after spawning a pawn in the hud zone, to which the problem I come to you with strikes again!

The only reason I had any expectations at all that it would just go back to working for no reason at all, was because that happened yesterday. I remember contemplating life choices for five minutes looking at the empty screen, and suddenly all the pawns returned, and I got my bottom hud back! The rest of the playthrough that day was completely normal, and relatively smooth for the ridiculous mod demands I have made! But then it just went back to the same old stuff. I would appreciate any advice given to me right now, and I will be waiting to see what you guys think of all this!

And attached to this is a zip folder filled with a list of my mods, and a harmony.log file that sprung up on my desktop.

While we're at it, here's also my .old version of the save file, if that is something you could also use.

Here it is, I was having a little bit of trouble attaching both zip files to the post, hopefully this resolves that.

And I will look into what makes that filth problem, though it might not be what's at stake here.

I must say, I'm sort of surprised that a bug/misfortune has waited this long to rear its ugly head towards me, and cause me this problem. I get it, 1.1 is new ground and I'm sure a problem like this has probably happened, but despite my best Googling there was no luck to find even one person suffering this glitch.
*This is just flavor text, move on to the next paragraph to get to the meat and potatoes*

To say the least, I really REALLY don't want to give up on this game I've been playing, which thus far has been my expeditionary force on the new frontier of both 1.1 and the Royalty DLC, and so far things have gotten really interesting. What was supposed to be a simple leg transplant turned terrible tragedy, when my colonies mad scientist/flawless organ harvester Krisszir, dies under the knife at Monroe's "the colonies SECOND best doctor" hands! Whether this was an "accident" or not, nothing can replace that literal hole where Krisszir's heart used to be, and this would be a significant loss to our colony, if it weren't for one thing. A man's head needs to be brought on a silver platter to USFM headquarters, our most profitable and cooperative ally by far, and in return for taking this man's life, we would get a Mech Ressurector Serum! Time was of the essence, "literally seeing as i've heard you want to ressurect pawns as fast as possible" and with great haste we made the fuel for the drop pod voyage necessary to claim that prize! Two of my colonists greatest warriors, a former tribal girl turned badass psyker Setsuko, and a bearded, bloodlusty killer of men named Merlin, donned on their protective gear, and went inside of the shuttle pods, launching off towards the city... is what would have happened if not for this killjoy bug!

So long story short, two pawns travel out onto the map, they make it to the city they need to go to, and when I click on either the pawn or a colony on the map, my screen goes completely blank! Not only that, but it also seems that I can't access any of the menu features or options, leaving me only with the Steam overlay, and Alt-F4ing out of the game!  This is no way to be, especially with the stakes so high in my game now, I HAVE TO SEE THIS THROUGH. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I will stay tuned to any responses to this post!

Here is the report, https://gist.github.com/64d36a3b202083ff5c6706f3b81cf296

And the Zip attached to this should have everything you need to know, plus a funny little video demonstrating my troubles!

Well, even when I think the problems I was experiencing were long behind me, a day goes by and several mods that were completely functional with Fastrack suddenly decide to give me the same problems as before, and completely softlock my current campaign with a grey screen as the kibble cherry on top. Not to mention even with the new mods I installed for that new campaign, I experienced no problems with them until today.

I think I might just give up on Rimworld for a bit...

Ill keep that in mind for the future, but for now everything seems to be working properly! As I thought it was just a few bad apples that spoiled the whole gigantic, disgustingly sweet pie that is my modlist. I'm really satisfied with how it turned out, and I can rest easy knowing that there are more ways than one to do this sort of thing. Thank you so much for your help, and making me see reason!

I seem to be encountering the same problem as before, but hopefully I will get closer to an answer. I think the problem reignited because I kinda rushed through a part of the list last night, though I think anyone sifting through mods for 5 hours might become a bit impatient. I guess I will just have to start halfway through again!

So, after doing what you said, I have come to the pretty obvious conclusion that Fastrack has you covered for most major mods... really wish I knew that several hours ago...

However I also have learned its not a fix-all for every mod, so i'll just have to keep an eye out from now on!

First Offence!

And for once I can pinpoint the source, its Dinosauria and the patches I put in!

Well I am trying your process of elimination method of fives, and so far I have found no debug errors popping up at all! I will continue the journey until I find a debug screen popup.

Thank you for your input, and I had a feeling that this would be no easy fix. But I just don't want to give up so easily. This reply has the folder crash report I was talking about in the *EDIT*, so perhaps that has more info. If its a matter of memory, my computer has the specs required to make that kind of magic happen. So I will continue to try and stay tuned to this forum discussion!

Also sorry about the lack of Hugslib use, if it comes down to it I will use it, but I just don't wanna wait the 10 minute startup time I've become accustomed to for now.

Now to say that I don't ask for much would be an understatement, I know that having the ludicrous amounts of mods that I have would inevitably set me up for a complete standstill like this. As I said before, I have a ridiculous amount of mods, with a wall of red errors confronting me after I initialize. This is nothing new, and it really didn't do anything to me before, so I usually shrug that off. I then make my way to create a new world, and whenever I click on generate, 4 dots later and a crash report comes up, which automatically exits me out of the game! For a while I was completely distraught, until a couple of hours before me writing this, I found a post which shares my struggle: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=47812.0

To know that I'm not alone on this gives me enough hope to finally use the official forums to ask for help. I have never experienced a problem like this in my 500+ hours of this game, and I really wish I could put this behind me. If there is any other information I didn't disclose here, please let me know as soon as you see a fault, and I will get onto explaining that in the best detail I can manage.

So here's the skinny: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gQK2C_UsS2EI5txx6A1wri0Apwssx2KGmcL81N7Z1Fw/edit?usp=sharing

*EDIT*I guess I have my share of problems too, like forgetting to upload what crash report I got!

And here's where I'd put my save file...

Stories / A Long Story turned Drug PSA!
February 09, 2019, 03:40:02 PM
As of this point of me writing, I have had at least 200+ hours into Rimworld 1.0. I am not in the veterans category, but not noobish enough to qualify as a beginner, so I am at the weird lukewarm stage I suppose. Anyway, enough about that, time for the actual story!

I find myself seeing similarites between Mount&Blade Warband and Rimworld, and the biggest similarity between the two is this: I have quite literally never played more than 10 hours on the vanilla game, and I can't sleep properly without my mod injection every week, that and both of these games require juicy juicy time, patience and grinding. With that being said, I decided that a medieval fantasy style campaign might be really fun for rimworld, and I was right! In case you were curious, the setting is basically if Jecrell had thrown all of his mods in a pot, chucked some Rimworld of Magic and goblins in there for good measure, and just a sprinkle of slavery, depravity, and quarry-mining, then you would get the setting. So after downloading a healthy 30-40 mods "totally worth the 10 minutes waiting to get into the game" I started a new campaign! I decided to go with the most acne-stained edgelord pawn you could imagine, his name was Farion and he "was" a half-elf necromancer, thrust into rocky mountains to survive naked, at least that is how our story begins.

Farion, while being a fairly strong dude with a bow had a very VERY fatal flaw I did not foresee, he simply couldn't fucking bandage himself if his life depended on it! Knowing this, I decided to make a vow, I will only heal him 3 times through dev mode "yes it took me 200+ hours to FINALLY open dev mode", and after those 3 chances I would just let him die. So what followed was one of the most paranoid playstyles I have ever come up with. I made him mine into mountains when raiding a dwarven bandit camp, and build traps in the mountain to protect himself. That and many other cowardly tactics made me only have to heal him 2 times out of the 3 I promised. Eventually though things took a turn for the best as Farion learned how to raise the dead. Of course I decided to unbury the long since dessicated corpses of some drunk dwarves and unfortunate merchants to work for me now "did I mention Farion wasn't even a psychopath? So he hated every minute of it!".

With some basic zombies to do all sorts of labor for me,and  things were starting looking updead for Farion! A hop and a skip and a 6 hours of mindless grinding, fighting, and really cool but short moments from time to time, I then had finally set up a magical fortress within the mountain, with possibly the longest kill-box I have ever constructed, leading to it! The biggest goal I had at this point now was A:Become an sweaty lich, B:Obtain magical artifacts, C:Rule/Destroy the world for the heck of it "sorry mom!". I managed to turn Farion into a lich "only by this point did he become deranged, forget the 26 colonists and 13 enemy raids you butchered and killed!", and at this point everything was running smoothly for once. There were enough dumb animals to supply the fortress for months with dried meat, the elder gods smiled upon Farion by tolerating our feeble attempts at rituals, and I had made some dope valiants armor for Farion to don on!

So with all of this good news and cheer "and the many innocents that weren't zombies were then made into standard protocol socks", your probable wondering why I want to make this gruelingly long story titled "A Drug PSA", well little timmys and tynans, allow me to ellaborate! So it was just a normal morning, the stakes at the gate had the required amount of heads placed onto them, the zombie T-Rex had just eaten the leader of the elves in their attempts to siege Fort Fucket, and general human misery was at standard performance quality! But all of a sudden, something worse than an infestation, zombie horde, and a raid happened "yes during this playthrough all of that happened at the same time, but not now!"... A MAGIC DRAIN!!! Basically why this is a problem is because zombies run off of magic, no magic means no zombies, and no zombies means no labor done, and seeing how Farion's jaded ass can't be bothered to do his own dumb labor anymore, that would mean trouble! "that and I didn't want to lose t-bones the trex!" Thankfully the harvests went well this year, and we managed to gather quite the bit of mana potions to drink. So Farion went to chug like a madman on that blue sky quality manameth, and before he knew it he had a major drug overdose on mana. Now this had happened before, and because of his lichiness, he could walk off most injures and be fine, so I suspected nothing. Now I was suspecting that after this ordeal, I might get stopped down the line by some drunk dwarves, self-righteous paladins, or just by an infestation that levels Fort Fucket, and then be satisfied. And then that's when Farion puked in the upright position, and died in his bed made of human suffering, leading all of the undead in the base to crumble to ash... and 11 hours in, the Limbo Legion had come to a crashing end.

So remember kids, always stay in drugs, but don't eat before hopping in and do it for only for about 30 minutes, otherwise your necrotic empire might just backflip on itself thanks to you being a junkie!
