Hi everyone, can somebody please tell me what the ice sheet mod is and what it does?
I noticed it is being implemented into alpha 11 (From changelog, Correct me if i am wrong)

Ideas / Lightning Rod

Basically the cheapest type of way for creating power, Costs very little resources but can be created from the start.

The Lightning Rod would direct lighting bolts during a storm and then absorb the power to fill batteries. I think the power output would have to be quite high considering how often storms happen (Rimorld storms might be more electrical than earths). The Rod would be a 1x1 object so the more you build the more lightning strikes hit that point.

Might be a waste of an item to have in the game but share your opinions.  :)

General Discussion / Share your outdoor Colony

One thing i always seem to see on the forum is mountain colonies, does anybody build their colony outdoors?

If so then post a picture of your colony and show it off to the rest of us.

Personally i'm a big fan of building outdoors to start with and then tunnelling into mountains in the far late game. Although i'm posting this from work so cant get a pic of my colony Haha ;)

Ideas / % (Percentage) Chance when capturing Visitors

When capturing visitors i think that rather than it just make you enemies with the other faction it should have a percentage chance of the other faction finding out you have captured one of their colonists.

As an example a colonist (Yours) with a certain high skill would have less chance of alerting the other faction when one of their people are captured.
In a rimworld style world people would go missing most of the time whilst traveling the world so it would make sense to have something like this, rather than the faction declaring war on you as soon as you capture one of their people.

Ideas / Fast Enemy for Mechs

I know people like sitting behind their killbox but one thing that i think would add some sort of difficulty to the end game would be having some sort of fast/speedy Mech that only attacks with melee.

This type of enemy would have the player on edge as they might not be able to get colonists into defensive positions in time so it adds a bit more strategy/fear to the game.

This type of mech would be fast and only use melee - to make up for its speed. Personally i think this would complete the Mechs as you have already got the scyther (Sniper), Centipede (Tank) then Insert_Name : .......... (Close Range).

With the new melee system coming out it could be a good addition.

Let me know what you guys think?

A large swarm of pirates attacked my colony, we thought long and hard and lost most of our colony members. By the time the battle had finished 6 colony members out of 11 remained and an injured pirate. Seeing as i had lost all my good people i imprisoned the pirate to show him he's now in hell, but when i checked on his health stats seeing what parts were injured i actually felt sorry for the guy Haha, So in the end i recruited him and he is now a vital member of the colony except his fighting days are past him as his right Eye was "Shot Out" during the pirate assault. Which is a shame because his shooting stats where 8.
