General Discussion / Steam

This came up on the Discord earlier and thought I'd stick it here.
Basically, Predators and your pets can consume corpses, any corpses whether they are human or critter.
While Cannibals cannot eat raw human corpses, despite liking raw human meat. +20 Mood!
And what about other pawns eating raw critters? Sure it is immeasurably bad for you, but when you're desperate, food is food.

Thoughts?

General Discussion / Mood Debuff for Bonded critters
April 09, 2016, 10:31:32 PM
So as I was checking to ensure my pawns were happy with their current room arrangements, I noticed the "Not a bonded animal's master" debuff for -3 and thought that was pretty cruel, considering how lousy some animals are in combat you don't want them fighting with your colonists.
Sure it gives a +5 buff when they're together, but... Why couldn't my damn grizzlies bond with my colonists instead of my labradors?.. :(

Ty, why have you gotta do this man? my family of Labradors are dogs, not Wargs! I don't want them being slaughtered for a small mood buff/Debuff. D:

Off-Topic / Odd Happenings with the forums.
February 10, 2016, 04:38:43 AM
So today... I got home, booted up my PC and typed in the address for the Ludeon forums and I was greeted (and it's still there...) by this.

so I pull open chrome's dev console and modify the body to a smaller width, so I can get a better look at it and this is what's there.

I'm not sure if this is a dodgy Protocol or something on my end, but this was bloody hilarious to open the page to and wanted to share it.

Off-Topic / Windows 10
July 29, 2015, 09:20:32 PM
Wasn't sure where to put this, so I put it here.
I noticed there was one small, itty bitty problem with windows 10 that would stop me from using it like I do Windows 8, The Auto update and the inability to turn it off or atleast let you choose when to download like in previous renditions of Windows.

So I did some surfing and found a trick to fix that problem
https://4sysops.com/archives/disable-windows-update-in-windows-10/
Hope this helps someone! I know there are a few people with really shoddy internet around on the forums here! :)

Off-Topic / Conman Series

Just thought I'd mention it here on Ludeon, but anyone who's watched Firefly or anything else that Nathan Fillion or Alan Tudyk has done might want to go check this out. :)

Have you ever just stared at the online members down the bottom of the page of the index and had a laugh at some of the names people come up with?

Off-Topic / Internet! WHY YOU NO WORK.

So I noticed this as my colonists were cleaning out the hydroponics bay, it seems that if my hydroponic's basins are receiving light then they don't need to be powered for the colonists to plant and grow things there.

Second shot, showing the colonists planting with none of the hydroponic's being powered.

So sips has finally made that video and now we need to prepare for that hype train. Try not to scare off the newbies too much guys? :)

General Discussion / Amazing start
June 10, 2014, 06:35:10 AM
Just encountered a wonderful spawn of 8 geysers on a single, mountainous/valley-ish map, 300x300.  Which I must say, I'm pretty happy about, especially with 4 of them being in the mountain, lets me keep my colonists alive a bit more.
However, I did notice that I did not have a single patch of rich soil on the entire map, so it has that going for it, means I'll need to work harder for those potatoes.

Has Geyser generation been edited for Alpha 4? I do not recall receiving as much in prior builds. (About 4 to 5)

Version Found - 0.4.466, Alpha 4F
Summary - Colonists will choose to eat Survival meals when there are simple or fine meals available.

Steps to Reproduce -
1. Have simple, fine and survival meals available in the stockpile
2. Colonist gets hungry and chooses survival meal.

Expected Results - I expected the colonists to choose a higher quality meal, eg. The fine meal

Actual Results - The colonists chose to eat the survival meals before they ate a simple or fine meal in the same stockpile.

Notes - However, Lavish meals we're unaffected, staying at the top of the food chain.

Ideas / Mechanoid Vulnerability - Melee

When fighting mechanoids I've found if you sit in one spot then you're gonna get someone killed, you need to use tactics and move around frequently to minimize your colonist deaths, especially when fighting the inferno cannons
You can also instruct a colonist to punch it to death. I did that and the thing just kept trying to run away while the colonist repeatedly kicked it in the face.
They don't appear to have a melee attack.
That's... A significant vulnerability. PUNCH THE MECHANICAL CENTIPEDE IN THE FACE! PUNCH IT TO DEATH!

Showed up in a general discussion post, and decided to post it to suggestions.
A strong melee or a serious deterrent to stop people from exploiting this vulnerability would be a good idea as mechanoids seem to be the tanks of rimworld, you don't want them being quite that easy to kill via zerg rush do you?

Stories / From the Fog
May 19, 2014, 01:00:52 AM
[Town of Phoenix VI, somewhere on an uncharted rimworld]

Langley stands at his post, M24 in hand, peering out through the embrasures into the valley that houses the town of Phoenix VI , a thick fog is rolling in, accompanied by the occasional thunder clap.

Glancing over at bunker 15 metres away on the other side of the entrance and thumbs his radio.
"Looks like a bad storm, don't it Jonesy?" He states

"Yeah, would be the perfect time for-..."
A lightning strike illuminates the area, something small dashing behind a bush out in the darkness
"Did you see that?" Jonesy replies

"See what?"
Another flash, A ball of red fur dashes behind another bush, much closer this time
"Oh god no"

From the opposite bunker, the sounds of a minigun spinning up are heard, Langley slams down on the alarm panel as another lightning strike illuminates Dozens, if not hundreds of boomrats making their way down the valley towards them, Langley and Jonesy start firing off shots, explosions declaring a fatal hit.

Their comrades arrive after the two had been fighting for more than 3 minutes, already 4 dozen lie at their feet, and more were still arriving when a bolt of lightning strikes something inside the base, Langley glances over his shoulder to surprisingly find there are boomrats coming from behind the entrenched defenders.
"WE'RE SURROUNDED!" He shouts as a pair of boomrats start biting at his legs, Langley kicks it, resulting in the death explosion boomrats are known for.

"Randy! Why have you forsaken us?!" One of his comrades shouts before Langley drifts into unconsciousness, later to die in his coma while his comrades die around him, The boomrat onslaught unending.

General Discussion / New Method of disposal
May 07, 2014, 01:51:57 AM
So I noticed that noone has brought this up during other threads and I thought it was something similar to Sion's Construction/shooting range. thought it should be shown to the community. :D

Edit : Yeah, I completely forgot about grenades, I suppose this is good for theatrics or the whole story aspect of it?

The Method of disposal is to simply crush it, Build a large open room, Large enough that in the centre it should collapse and eliminate everything below. build a dumping zone in the area it should collapse in and put everything you want destroyed there (Bodies, Materials, Excess food)  have someone shoot out the support from a distance or destroy it with other means (Blasting charge for instance) and then simply dig it out and replace the support to repeat.

General Discussion / Farming plots > Hydroponics?
March 02, 2014, 08:53:31 PM
I'm not sure about anyone else but for some reason my berries grow faster than my Hydroponically accelerated Potatos and then we have no way to artificially grow agave despite having 3 different Decoration (I think they are atleast... I havn't tried yet) plants that are growable from the grow plots.

Can anyone confirm the berries > Accelerated potatos thing? I havn't actually checked the numbers at all, it just seems that I'm collecting more berries than potatos when I have similar amounts of plots to tables.

Cheers.

General Discussion / Wall Damage?
March 02, 2014, 03:15:56 AM
I've been simultaneously playing 2 colonies where one is in Developer mode and the other is not and for some reason no walls suddenly start breaking down in either, is this a bug or is it intended as I didn't see any mention of it in the change logs.
