So i noticed my maps all end up looking like barren wastelands. No plants a couple years in (not counting my farms)

I have fires/flashstorms and animals grazing - but shouldnt it come back? i have pockets of the map (maybe 20%) that have animals and plants by year 3 onward- but the rest of the map is literally barren (doesnt matter what type of location i choose to start) - its really starting to get annoying because i need plants so i can have animals to hunt and tame...anyone else go through this?

My fave part of the game is the beginning when im setting everything up....then it gets to be a real chore.

since the dev is on a long vacation- i recommend everyone go try out Prison Archetect (and maybe Gnomoria) to quench your thirst. PA espicially - it will consume you once you get the hang of it!

kinda boring watching everything run itself on the fast speed....do you guys just quit and restart or keep playing late game?

seriously - i hated mechs/evil ships for a while to the point that it makes me want to restart the game. They just arent fun to fight and most of the time i cant even fight them without taking huge losses....but this flu/getting sick business sucks even more- WHY ARE YOU GETTING SICK PAWN? WHY? its not too hot outside- its not too cold- you are fully clothed- WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU DAMMNIT!? And when you get sick and you lay in bed for what seems forever- You get mad and eventually break.....WHY...WHY ! Can we please have a full proof way of dealing with this that doesnt slow the game down to a crawl (in terms of pace) or isnt so random

My fave part of the game is building the first few rooms of my base and setting everything up- i swear once a few get sick or evil ships and mechs come - i always restart- they ruin the entire game for me lol (i dont use mods btw)

I just started playing again and during the set up phase i noticed some colonists have a life span of 900+ years. needless to say i selected them as soon as i saw them

is there any lore or any reason they live so long?

Everyone name the top thing you would change, add or remove from this awesome game to make it even more awesome ! N00bs feel free to join in but i want the long term players input the most! You can do one or make a suggestion for all three! Yipeee!


Add - Z levels to dig down a few levels into the world! add new monsters and such if need be

Remove - Mechanoids! lol i know im going to get hate for this but i hate them, i hate fighting them, i hate their ships, i hate the non gory way they die, i hate their weapons, i just friggin hate them

Change - Make turrets manned so you cant just build dozens of them all over the place- maybe make an alert button to have everyone man a turret during attacks

i love the new alpha! cant wait for the next one!!

General Discussion / How many AC units does it take?

New Alpha is out and that means im coming back for more! I noticed on the Rimworld front page that the dorms have like 10 AC units. So my question is how many AC units do you really need? Im most definitely not a pro at this game but i always had just one AC to regulate the temperature in my (small) bases.... Same question goes for the object that heats a room(s)

On a side note - i hope T makes millions off this game. Its amazing...and this is kinda OT but between this game, Prison Archetect releasing, Madden 16, Metal Gear Solid, Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 - This is going to be one of the best few months ever to be a gamer =) Good job to all these Devs, especially T (i believe he works basically by himself)and the mod team that helps make Rimworld what it is!

Ironman is a term for an unforgiving playstyle that ditches save scumming (which i do a lot lol)

how would you go about adding it to a game like Rimworld? I feel like it would make the game more tense and emphasize the survivalist aspect much more

I would make only one save slot for each game- if you want to save during the game you will have to overwrite your last save- and if you want to quit the game you will auto save right before

Thoughts? I think it might be kinda rough but the tense aspect of Ironman modes would make it worth it IMO

I just had a toxic fallout kill everything on my map----- i had LOTS of animals on the map lol. Seems a waste to just throw the bones away- can i make anything out of them? (even if i have to download a mod- please recommend one)

Topic- I want to see how many games are even like this one......I dont know of many

Gnomeria is my fave right now

I tried Dwarf Fortress- its waaaay too complicated and im not a person that usually gives up trying (i mastered Distant Worlds which is another maze of a game) - but i had to on this one

Rimworld/Gnomeria is working out for me- what about you fellas, any recommendations ?

Title- i play the base game but some of the game pics I've seen with mods running look amazing.

if you play with mods , feel free to recommenced one or two

Topic!

Keep in mind we only have 1 dev (a very talented one- but still only one guy lol)

For me- i want to say the ability to dig levels but i think that would be too complicated at this point- so what i want is hostile native life like big monsters or something that just rampage all over the map =)
what about you guys?

i appreciate the added difficulty - but my problem is-
1- fights take too long and ruin the pace of the game IMO
2- they just arent as fun to kill as tribals/humans
3- evil ships just suck lol

anyone else ???? lol i caught myself just quitting after getting invaded by a buncha mechs.....its wierd because i actually look forward to big human raids but i seriously cant stand these robots anymore lol

Just a quick question- would it be hard to set up raids? Select 3-4 colonist and set them to raid another colony. Maybe a large chunk of food can be deducted when they leave the map- you get the results weeks later. They may come back with slaves, loot/money - they may die on the journey (if you send them during winter) - or they may get completely wiped out depending on the raid size/ colony wealth

its a huge risk sending colonists out because you can still get raided yourself - so the reward should be above average if it works out

easy right ? :)

I know we all love using them-its the only sure fire method to keep a base safe long term - but it also feels cheap too lol

How do you think the base defense method will evolve for the final build? im sure killboxes will be obsolete soon

IMO i think Tynan should make turrets A LOT stronger- but require them to be manned. Maybe multiple types of turrets could be built like machine gun,plasma,flame,etc- it would kinda make it a tower defence game during invasions but its better than a boring old killbox . IMO This could change the entire dynamic of a fight without changing the game too much.Thoughts?

Love the game, but i was wondering if it would be hard to add the ability to build mechs (soldiers) to defend the colony? My farmers all just got wiped out because they lack gun skills....i actually miss the fukers. If we could build mechs from Steel that would activate during raids , i would be so happy.

Maybe solar flares can knock them out so they are not too OP. They can have their own room (charging room) ? Require power (so you cant spam them) - and are involved in random events (like a short circuit that makes them shoot everyone)? They could use the robot mech model so you wouldnt have to put too much work into it (i hope) lol

basically , they would be expensive and disposable soldiers so we wouldnt go through losing our favorite colonists forever :*(

I haven't played in a while because of my PS4 but im back! i was wondering what the main issue with the game is right now? Not in terms of bugs- but in terms of : Is the late game boring? Are the invasions really overpowered to the point of not trying? Whats the community's biggest issue with Rimworld right now (a consensus).  I love this game and i know it will be awesome, used to play it all the time while grinding tables in online poker lol

PS- is there any update on the steam release? Its just easier having it on my steam purchase list- not a big deal though

Everyone is pissed off because they are hungry and i have a couple piles of simple food right there.... not spoiled....no ones eating them.

Whats the deal? am i doing something wrong? i lost 3 settlers to hunger already + rotting corpses lol
