I noticed the team skills box doesn't always reflect the best of the three selected team pawns

in my case i have an intellectual 9 with an interested passion but it shows an intellectual 1 with a burning passion.  perhaps it values passion above level?

why does it read "
progress Stopped until fertilized"

at 50%.  are unfertilized turkey eggs not a thing?

General Discussion / trade caravan hunted by grizzly

so there i was saying... "yay a trade caravan is here!"

as i watched in horror a grizzly started to hunt their muffalo.

the muffalo lost its head... the caravan members killed the grizzly and i screamed "My trade caravan!"

then i said.. "oh my free stuff.." as I noticed the muffalo dropped 1500 plus silver and a bunch of high end items.

intentional or a just funny happenstance?

ok so i got a rooster and 3 hens.

the eggs get fertilize they go to 100% but i don't see them become chickens.

do eggs hatch?  why aren't mine.

Mods / [request] fire that can prepare food

I just want the ability to cook simple meals on a fire.  Is this possible?

Ultimately it would be cool to play a colony with no electricity but simple meals at the start make sense and would be helpful for now.

so i had a colonist begin to wander aimlessly.

i really didn't want her so i arrested her so i could take her clothing and armor.

arrested the colonist, stripped her of her stuff and checked release on the prisoner tab.

when released she was in the colony as if she never left.

will do some more testing.

Ideas / Would personal belongings be possible?

Imagine that your pawns could have personal belongings.

Their cloths, their favorite weapon, artwork ect.

Pawns could then have a desire for things, like nicer cloths, that other guys weapon and artwork ect ect.

Perhaps when a pawn gets assigned a bed the pawn can then keep their belongings in that room if they aren't carrying it and assuming the room isn't shared. The belongings would be forbidden to other pawns except for a jealous pawn, or thieving pawn and the owner will be sent into a rage and attack the thief if caught.

Negative thoughts could occur from wanting something but not having it, positive thoughts from having nice things and so on.  Not sure if this is possible in the world of rimworld but i would love to see the drama unfold as a result of jealously, thievery and desire,

General Discussion / Possible alternate game mode

I understand the story of and setting that rimworld takes place in.  I also understand the end state of the game is the escape from their status as cast aways in a world the survivors don't want to be on.

However i see great potential for a game mode where the setting is the same but the situation and end game are different.

What if the accidental castaways are intentional colonists?

The goal would be to create a sustainable colony for a scheduled influx of colonists.  The tasks would be to increase the sustainability in the form of infrastructure, habitability, quality of life and food production.  The dangers of pirate raids and angry natives could be replaced with a very harsh environment, meteor strikes and limited life sustaining resources.

Perhaps a requirement to send valuable resources back into space instead of build a space ship and leave the world.  Just a thought, as i love the game but have no desire to let my colonists escape, ever, for any reason.

Continued work on intoxication.

If this is the last we see of him the above will be the reason.  If his next ten change logs are "Continued work on intoxication" we (and he) have a problem.

(On a related note, I WILL be more than happy to help you continue your testing anytime.)

The ability to strip a single article of clothing from living prisoners, i couldn't find a suggestion for striping individual items of clothing.

sometimes i want to remove the power armor and leave the prisoner with his pants.

So there I am sitting in the woods of upstate New York.  Its about 25 degrees F and somehow raining, the wind is gentle out of the north but not so gentle that my eye balls aren't freezing solid, and I thought to myself, where the frack are all the deer.

So my mind wanders to thoughts of couches, video games and temperatures above frozen. I start to think about rimworld and ponder... What would my hunting skill be if there was one.  So i ranged it from between a 2 and 2.5.  Either I suck, there are no deer and its just a myth my dogs bark at all summer long or maybe they were just squirrels in costume.

So hunting in rimworld is too easy, animals don't run until shot at (jeeze i WISH) and even when shot at they really just move a bit this way or that.

Perhaps add a mechanic that makes animals run from any pawn unless the pawn is set to hunting mode and then that pawn uses his shooting skill or something as a sort of sneak check to make the animal not run.   Not sure how to do it, but hunting is a skill and deer are smart, heck they must be smarter than me.

Ok its 6am, 28 degrees and raining.  I am going to head out now and sit on a log for 3 hours with a loaded gun.

Nov 11  "Refactored the minification/installation system. Instead of the installed building containing the minified source item, the minified item contains the building.'

Is this like doctor who stuff?  its bigger on the inside?  (That's what i tell all the girls)

perhaps metal should be renamed to Iron and the smelter can be used to make steel at a 3 iron to 2 steel ratio and have it make the area very dirty as a result of the process.

Just a thought.

so I notice that sometimes when i decide to preemptively attack a group that is "carefully preparing" or attack a group of pirates placing mortars that my pawns tend to get injured badly to the point of not needing rescue but still being able to walk.  By the time the get across the very largest map i insist on playing ( I love the hugest map) they start having mental breaks and sometimes succumb to their injuries.

So i actually create a rally point where my pawns haul some food and medicine to a short distance away from the enemy group.  I then set up sleeping spots for medical uses and no one starves and everyone needing it gets immediate medical attention.  Once the battle was protracted and i actually had my pawns rotate off the front line to get food or medical care at the rally point.  I figure if battles can last long they can even take a nap.

Other than negative thoughts due to sleeping on floor, ugly environment and combat related thoughts it all works well.

any thoughts on this?

Are there mods that track statistics such as kills and deaths, colonist kill counts, weapon type kill counts, fine meals made, animals butchered prisoners executed... Ect ect?

I hate restoring to counting graves as a stats tracker.

Bugs / Roof bug

I noticed that when i build a comms console or a stove first, then surround it by walls and a door i get a structure with no roof.

I noticed this on two occasions when the stove and the comms short circuited in The rain.  The situation was the same in both cases where i build the device before the building.

Anyone notice something similar.

...and i just bought this game.  Wow.  I first saw this game at 5:02PM Eastern Time and I am frantically attempting to remember my pay pal password.

Any quick first timer advice?
