Alpha 11 is here and I wanted to quickly shout it out and share my experiences with the new systems. This colony will also feature the first time I'll impose a challenge on myself. I was going to do more but, what can I say, Tynan's changes gave me a little pause for thought  :-X

This run will be of course be on Cassandra Extreme. I used Randy in A10 but he just fell asleep too often, especially towards the endgame. I ended up sometimes with an hour space in between raids and ended up cutting a LOT of footage out of the videos consequently. I will also of course be going to the newly opened Ice Sheet biome. I did a test run already before the video and while tricky, I don't think it's insurmountable, especially after passing the initial difficulty hump  ;D. And finally my self imposed challenge will be completely random Colonists, I can't scan them for good personality traits and once I recruit someone or have someone join I'm stuck with my decision to recruit them and have to make it work. To do this I will disallow myself from seeing the Character or Needs tabs if they aren't one of my colonists. I will still defer potential colonists if there's major crippling factors on health or an impractically high recruitment threshold on the prisoner tab.

I believe this will prove to make things interesting with me not able to telepathically discern a colonists personality or character and will lead to compelling challenges to overcome on top of Extreme Cassandra and the Ice sheet. I'm sure it will give my usual inordinate-amounts-of-pre-planning and leadership skills a run for their money. Go ahead and visit if you think it might tickle your fancy, we'd love to have ya in the comments discussions ;).

I don't really feel the need to spam you guys so I'll just leave it at that, see ya'll there!

Hey all! Just wanted to show off my Alpha 10 series I started earlier today, each new episode will be around 20-25 minutes (cutting out some light tedious bits) arriving about mid-day each day until completion. I went and found the hottest part of the map and landed in the middle of the flattest area of desert I could find so no giant mountain colony here. I also have Randy Random Extreme handling the events, so hopefully that triggers some interesting gameplay.

I tend to play a very thought out game for my LP colonies, planning out nearly the entire base ahead of time and thinking of the order of operations to get to that point. There were some that wanted a bit more improvisation or spontaneity, but I feel like I play sloppy when I don't plan things out, so hopefully the weight of the hot desert and Randy Extreme will add a bit more of a spontaneous element to it this time around. I'm also playing fairly unfamiliar to the Alpha 10 features though I am very practiced at this point with the features up to Alpha 9, so learning how 10's affects the dynamics of base-building mid-game will be interesting.

I think my end goal is going to be 30 citizens (a decent number that I can still run and record quickly) and trying to get as many of them (maybe even all of them) to go full Cyborg with bionics as quickly as possible. I don't plan on building the spaceship, I'm just going to try to reach this goal and if the series hasn't already ended I'll spawn a giant wave of bad-guys for us to fight against as a finale.

I also decided to name the city Ishbal after the desert civilization in FullMetal Alchemist  ;D

Thanks for reading!

So it wasn't the most amazing thing you could conceive of, but on Cassandra extreme challenge and a personal promise to live whatever story is being told I struggled to send one of my colonists on a Suicide Mission, and they succeeded. I decided to commemorate Hooper's heroic acts with a short sketch and have posted a 5 minute speed draw to Youtube.

Oh and I'm also making a Let's Play for Alpha 9, but what else is new? Maybe someone would enjoy it.
