Storytime. Once upon a time, a Farmer by the time of Strapping decided to join our base if they protected him from raiders. The three colonists decided that, if he helped, he can join. So, they killed the raiders (Brutally if the psychopath Babette had her way), and he helped. As they continued to build their base, more people joined. That was when the problems started.

Now, I have a problem where I sometimes forget to check my colonist's stats/health/etc., and I happened to not check the health tab for Strapping who, by the way, was an alcoholic AND a drug addict. As you could probably tell, he got quite... annoyed by our lack of drugs and alcohol. Quite a few times he would mental break and go walk-about, and I was getting quite annoyed with this little upstart.

His last mental break, however, was the last straw. He decided to attack one of the colonists. So, after he was subdued, I had Babette drag his unconscious body to the soon-to-be-hospital. Now, I hadn't played Rimworld for a while, so there were quite a few things that I had forgotten, including Euthanization.

Que Babette with her sandstone shiv stabbing so much that it ends up destroying his left leg and a few other appendages. Soon he dies and they all continue living, not questioning the fact that one of the colonists straight up murdered another (Probably because she is the best shot and not too bad with a shiv). At one point, I decided to check out how my little psychopath was feeling. It was then that I found out that she had a rivalry with Strapping and was quite pleased with his death.

This was one of the notable occurrences of how scary this character is. Another, was when they were dealing with sarcophagi. Using a colonist by the name of BW as bait, we opened five of the sarcophagus, awakening one dead guy, two unconscious guys, a man with a healthy self-preservation factor and a raging lunatic. Only after brutally murdering the lunatic, was it revealed that it was the lover of one of the unconscious guys who had joined our little group for saving him. He died later... totally not because Babette is also one of the doctors who looked after him during an injury.

But that's not the only problem. Everyone thinks she is their friend, but in reality, she doesn't care about them, some she even hates because of the 'hard worker vs lazy' thing. Everyone but her could die, and she wouldn't bat an eye, only thinking 'Damn, now who's going to cook and grow food?' But if she died, everyone would go mental.

General Discussion / Alpha 16! Discuss.

While I have not yet played the new Alpha release, the video Tynan posted more than piqued my interest. So far, we now have an actual spherical planet that already pumped several ideas into my head, though hopefully in later builds we get better customisation on the planet (I.e. choosing which Faction type exists, no pirates, no tribes, or yes pirates, no others, etc) I also hope that we might get an Easter Egg Earth seed for us to play around in.

The ability to trade and attack other settlements makes me feel like I am playing Civ. Going around and becoming a large colony of warmongering cannibals who wipe all other settlements out. I also find the creation of other Settlements intriguing as, in my mind, I feel like we could somehow create an Empire or something of that sort.

What are your thoughts on the new Alpha build?

Okay, this may not be a story, but a suggestion, and animated story of Rimword.
okay i have a few ideas for it:
A narrator, (he will tell us the story as it goes along)
the characters (will have the same art style, with the body with a head and floating weapons)
the story (could be based of an actual game, just some points taken out/ or a complete narrative with nothing connecting to an actual game)
it could be a group thing (different voice actors for the characters)

this Request is for there to be a bit larger Tech tree, unlike TTM, this would not be an overhaul, it would just add a few more buildings (i.e. improvements to buildings) and allot of the buildings will require research so that you only have the bear minimum at the start, and maybe it could have compatibility patches for other mods.

Tynan (or modders) do you think that there will ever be the feature to create a world, no generation like the Civ II world map creator but for rimworld or something like that.

i have looked everywhere and i still haven't found out how to create a mod to Replacement for the research bench. i have looked at tutorials and if i did this it would be my first mod, so can anyone help.
all i need is the ThingDefs XML to create it and i am done.

Bugs / [Alpha 7] Drop pod error [Windows]

Alpha 7

Enemy Drop pod lands, but does not open.

Well i was playing Rimworld and then  i get this message that a enemy drop pod has landed, when it lands i go to see what is happening and its just the drop pod right there not doing any thing
when i tried to re-load an auto save the same thing is happening. i also tried spawning another raider attack and they destroyed my fps

(i have only changed the name of the planet and the name of a faction)

hay, do you guys know the mod E-Furniture, do you think that we should re-create this mod but for this update. so yea this is my request. i also have an idea for new furniture:

Serving table. (3x1, holds 30 food items.)
Couch. (2x1, seats 2, comfort boost)
Foundation. (floor, build on water/mud) research
piller/column. (like a wall but dose not connect and it thinner)

Mods / [Request] Cramped enviroment

if i where to put one rimworld square in to measurements then i would have to say that a 4x4 bedroom is enough, so my proposition is that someone could mod the game to have the cramped room debuff to only appearer when the room is small, small like 2x3 or 3x3
the second way it could be done is if there are 2 types of cramped like low level cramped is liek 3x3 or 2x3 to 2x2,1x1,1x2 and then the slightly cramped room 3x3 to 3x4 and no cramped with 4x4 to 5x4 and and a buff for "Spacious room" for 5x5+

Hay I have a Suggestion for a Mod/Program to create custom Colonists. I to basicly this :
An iteration of the Custom Characters mod, where you create your pawn in the program the program then sets that as your starter colonists (via save file or something) on a post-generated world replacing the in game starter colonists
