General Discussion / Shot in the Liver
August 09, 2021, 09:53:25 AM
Hi there,

So ive got a little (and it is a little) dilemma. In one of the many raids on my base one of my pawns got shot in the liver. Now the damage is very minor, the organ is at 19/20 but it effects a whole lot of things like blood filtration.

In the last round I managed to down 3 pirates. And they happen to be from the same faction that did the previous attack (theyre the pirate faction)

I think you guys already know what the question is going to be about  ::)

2 of the pirates lost an arm, and as luck would have it got perks that mean that their selling price will be heavily effected. So im eyeballing all those healthy organs that theyre carrying.... Thing is Another pirate group has my entire region effected with a pernament rainy thunderstorm which effects everyones mood due to darkness and beeing wett and whatnot and right after a raid moods are always effected. Because of all the bodies that need cleaning up.

I see that theyre guilty for another 18 or 19 hours and I kind of always skimmed over the 'guilty' mechanic but reading on the wiki it says that the mood impact is lower if you *ahem* discover some organs that fell off a bus in this time.

The difference seems to be a -2 instead of a -6 which is a pretty big difference. Time  that you got the debuff seems to still be the same sadly.

Now, onto the question. Do you think a organ sitting at 95% effeciency is worth it to harvest one of the guilty prisoners for theirs? And if memory serves me right janking out their liver kills them outright so should I just jank out a lung and kidney while im at it? Seems like a waste of a prisoner otherwise  ::)

I dont think theres a bionic liver or id consider that. Since some colonists are already sitting at the edge of breaking down im considering using the 'guilty' timer but since I kind of always skipped over it id like some feedback over it.

General Discussion / Ideology worth it?
August 05, 2021, 07:25:58 AM
Hello everybody.

Im trying to figure out if ideology is worth picking up but I cant find a good amount of info about whats exactly in it.

So I guess im asking 2 things.

1: Whats exactly in the expansion? What things does it add specificly that you cant do without it.
2: What your opinion on it is. Id like to hear from fellow gamers how they are liking (or disliking) the expansion so far.

Thanks in advance :)

General Discussion / Taming insectoids?
August 05, 2021, 07:17:54 AM
Hey all,

So I returned my last colony when 1.3 hit and now I run into a problem. I downed a Spelopede when it and its cronies decided to dig up from one of my deep drills. Now I figured it would be fun to tame it.

However I cant find a way to drag it to animal bed to treat and later try and tame it? The only option available is 'carry to cryptosleep casket' even when I had just quikly put down an animal bed in a seperate room for the purpose of treating it.

How can I go about this now? Im confused :/

Hey all,

Ive got a quick question here. I want to play rimworld co-op with this mod that we found. But im currently mid way through a game. Can I safely install the mod and later on still play my current game? Or if I say remove the mod and then try to play it?

Thanks in advance :)

General Discussion / New colony challenge?
May 02, 2019, 04:42:54 PM
Hey all,

Ive almost completed my current playthough of 1.0. A classic crashlanded scenario in a temperate forest with a pretty mild winter. The colony was next to a river and had very few mountains to drill. I recorded the progress through a youtube series and up to episode 50. Starting to construct the ship to fly away and end the colony. Added a picture of the colony as it stands right now :)

Im looking to start another game and am looking for a new challenge with it. I already played a 2nd colony 'off camera' in a mountainous rain forest with a lost tribe and dident think it was all that challenging to be honest. The lack of winter and climate control was kinda..... boring. As soon as research picked up and some minor defenses were setup, the challenge was gone.

Im curious, what do you guys think would be a nice scenario for a challenge? And I dont mean the odds stacked against you challenge. Like the naked crashlanded scenario. Just a nice challenge. Where I have to think about climate control at the very least, but preferably with other challenges as well.

Im leaning towards desert or tundra myself. But would like some input from you lads and ladies over here :)

Hi all,

Last week I had a 10 day long toxic fallout. It happened at the worst of times, during the start of winter. Basicly all the animals dissapeared off the map. Either because they died and decayed or they just left. Luckily I tend to ensure that my freezer is full for winter so that in itself wasent a big issue. But I had no ways of regaining any meat to supplement my stores.

I had to coop all my live stock (about 10 Muffalo and 10 Alpacas) up inside my rec area which caused my colonists some annoyances and my people kept getting a high amount of toxic fallout build up in their system. I had about 3 colonists who kept falling over from the toxic build up. I lost a combat cougar and a colonist and a few puppies got Dementia from the toxic fallout as well.

Im an ingame year later and the landscape still hasent fully recovered from that. Trees and grass have regrown but it still a mere shadow of its former self.

Do you guys have any stories of an apocalypse strolling through your merry way?

General Discussion / Managing multiple colonies.
December 27, 2018, 12:18:32 AM
Hi all,

Ive got some questions regarding colony management. In particular in how the game handles several colonies at once. My main colony is rapidly running out of hills/mountains to mine for steel and other minerals. It is located quite close to some mountain ranges though and I want to setup another colony to act as a mine.

1: How does the story teller AI handle events. Do they happen on all colonies, or just at one?
2: If I get attacked, do I get attacked everywhere or just in 1 spot?
3: On that point, if I get attacked in a newer settlement will the attack be as heavy as the one I would receive in my main settlement?
4: Are temperatures the same in every colony or are they seperate from eachother?
5: How does the AI storyteller decide what happens where? If we get attacked, does it prioritize any colonies?
6: If all your colonists get killed in 1 location, can you still send colonists from another location to that colony afterwards to recover the colony or is it lost forever?
7: I take supplies are tied to the colony in that they are in. Is there a way to share resources or are we basicly stuck with constant caravaning back and forth if we want to take supplies from point A and use them in point B?

Cheers for any help with this  ;D

Video / Demo plays Rimworld 1.0
December 13, 2018, 04:34:07 PM
Hey all,

Ive started a Rimworld 1.0 playthrough a while back. I did not play Rimworld for every single beta before this one but did play I think 4 or 5 versions before 1.0. I noticed alot of new additions that I liked :) I think I stopped playing just as taming animals became a thing so that will give some indication of the things I missed  ::)

Heres a link to the first video: https://youtu.be/LK07Xt05V58

First episode is just me making the world, my colonists and laying out the colony plans. The 2nd episode I start to get things going :)

Each episode is an ingame week as I found just playing the game meant that alot of gaps were accuring where nothing happend.

Any feedback you guys can give me is appreciated  ;D

Hi all,

I have a question to ask. In my colony I want to install coolers for each colonist because I seem to get a heat wave (or two) each year. However im not sure if my power grid can handle it and im not to sure if things that have their power toggled off still drain power or not.

I had a problem earlier when I installed 2 coolers to fix heat for some people who were suffering from heatstroke but then when winter came my powergrid was suddenly overloaded, even with the coolers turned off. Since the coolers were the only change that I could renember I think that things still drain power even when turned off. Is this true? Because if so, I have some major trouble at the moment...

Cheers,

General Discussion / Difficulty capturing someone
November 26, 2018, 09:34:46 AM
Hello all,

Ive played the game before but havent touched it in...like 3 updates. Now 1.0 is here and im playing it again, and having fun :)

One issue ive got a problem with though is capturing....well, anyone.

Previously I never really had so many issues with capturing people. Most of the time the first few attacks that you got you were able to down them and pursuade them to join you. This playthrough I had killed over 20 people (I had dug graves for them so I could count how many had died at that point :P)

Now im getting an attack and one of the attacker is one of my main toons' sister. So naturally I want to bring them back together. I think ive spend over an 1.5hrs trying to get her to go down. So far ive killed with with fists. Clubs. Random stray shots. Melee attacks from ranged weapons. A cougar mauled her to death. Heck I wouldnt be suprised if a sneeze could kill her.

She has no injuries and aside from an alcohol addiction shes healthy. Im going through hoops to try and get her to go down and so far ive managed to do it once, with shots from hunting no less. The deadliest things in my arsenal managed to get her to go down -_- but she had only 4 hours before she bled to death and I couldnt save her in time.

Am I doing something wrong? All my melee combatants are carrying clubs or maces and AFAIK that should have the best chance to make some fall over....

Hey all,

I havent played in a while and came back to this awesome game to check whats new. So far im having some difficulties with my colony planning.

One of the biggest problems I have is with my colonists their bedrooms. I make them 7x7, so the interior space is a 5x5 room. I put a bed, small table, dining chair (all wooden), a standing light, metal plantpot and a cloth recliner chair (I think it was called?) and even though the rooms still have 17 open space left the  tooltips keep saying they are cramped.

Thing is, these rooms are pretty massive and considering they get no bonus to happiness for them im wondering if I shouldnt just make a big communal hall and put them all in the same space? Sure I will take a small happiness hit but the amount of resources that I needed to make rooms was massive...and I dident even get any happiness bonus for giving them their luxurious suite. It did say the qulity was pretty decent but the rooms never got above "dull" quality....

Any idea on what to do? Or tips to increase the room quality?

Hi, ive noticed alot of decaying and rotten animal corpses during a few of my colonies and I discovered why. Sometimes when a hunter shoots and kills an animal it is listed as forbidden; so they dont pick it up. Im unsure what causes this though.

I have noticed that if I manualy go hunting that ALL animals shot are listed as forbidden but sometimes an ai controlled colonist who shoots an animal will also have it listed as forbidden.

Colonists when hungry go to my freezer to get a meal and instead of taking it to the recreation room with a long table and chairs they sit on the floor in the freezer and eat it there in stead. Not game breaking but  pretty much got a pernament "ate of the floor" debuff for no reason :(

Strangest thing is, sometimes people DO use the table, but they only seem to be using 1 of the chairs...

General Discussion / Armchairs
April 18, 2015, 01:54:16 AM
What does this special chair do exactly? I put one in my colonists room as I assumed they would want to sit in them and gain a joy boost or something but I havent really caught to many sitting in one :/

General Discussion / cramped enviroment
April 17, 2015, 09:45:24 PM
HI, ive got a question. I talked to some of my friends who got the game and they told me a 5x4 room with a bed and some other small things is big enough that people dont got the "cramped enviroment" debuff when theyre in their room. I dont think they played alpha 10 yet but I started on it and I keep getting the debuff, even with only a bed and a heater in the room :/

Is this a bug or does this debuff also take into account the area around their bedrooms? The wallways are only 1 space in width so that might cause it....
