This is just a little thinking/brainstorming about incorporating some low-tech alterations/enhancements. Especially involving sand, glass, and clay.

Shines with a cold, dispassionate smile --

The stars shone brightly above the grassy knoll, a faint breeze causing the dainty stalks to sway between the smattering of Muffalo. The massive, hairy beasts grunted in content, their soft voices giving a base undercurrent to the soft chirping of the crickets and frogs that inhabited the foliage and trees. Occasionally underfoot, a squirrel would dart from brush to brush. Their nervous heads darting back and forth as they raced from plant to plant on their yearly errands of depositing nuts into caches under the soft soil.

Uwari sat still as a stone, watching this scene with a practiced patience. His people had lived in this place for as long as he remembered, and his parents remembered, and his grandparents remembered. He was one with the land, and the land was one with him. He knew the quarrelsome fear of the squirrel, the dogged stoic determination of the wild hogs and the patience of the old Muffalo. He sat, crouched, watching and waiting as the animals before him wandered back and forth. Watching... waiting as a hunter does.

One boar split from the heard: An old, fallow sow. Her belly was distended from many generations of children, and thick scars from fights with other boars crisscrossed her face and back. She was old, past her time. Perhaps she even knew it was her time, as she had lifted her head and stared right at Uwari's hiding place with a grunt. She was an ideal target, her loss would not harm the heard, and she would feed the tribe meat for many days. Uwari knew this; boar knew this. Uwari lifted his pila, moving for the first time in as many hours, ready to throw!

Above the grassy knoll, the sky broke. Light and sound flooded from the heavens, illuminating the evening-shrouded grass as the wind kicked it aside and away. The muffalo looked up as one and brayed, kicking and running in their panic. The industrious squirrels fled underground, nuts left out and unburied. The Sow, so close to Uwari, sprinted away with a terrified squeal, while the tribesman looked up at the shattering sky uncomprehending.

For a moment the night was cast away. The night-time horizon turning as bright as day as a fireball blossomed above, expanded, then died.

All went silent on the grassy knoll for a minute.

Just a minute.

Then the sky began to truly fall





Hello everyone.

I've only recently (within the last few weeks) stumbled upon rimworld and this community. However, coming from DF and other indie games of a similar style, I pretty much fell in love with this game right off the bat when I discovered it. I figured, having done a few of these in the past, I'd give it a go on the Ludeon forums now that I've gotten a few playthroughs done on Cassy and Randy extreme.

How this works:

It's very simple really, I'll be doing a playthrough of Rimworld using characters based on forum users. Anyone who wants to participate simply needs to post here to claim a colonist and what preferred jobs they would like to have. I will assign appropriate colonists to users on a first-come first-serve basis. Similarly, I will regularly ask people here on the forums for what design choices they would like to see in base construction, research, etc. I will also save and broadcast my playtime on my twitch account for anyone who wants to watch.

Each update will cover an in-game month, and a lengthy writeup with screenshots will be posted here. As per usual with LPs, I will be playing this Hardcore as well. (No restarts, no reverts, unless something breaks or my computer crashes.)
